New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the empanelment of four senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for holding Additional Director General (ADG)/ADG Equivalent level posts in the Government of India.
The empanelment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday (July 1, 2026). The officers belong to the 1996 and 1997 batches of the IPS and are now eligible for appointment to ADG or equivalent-level positions at the Centre.
The empanelment is a key step in the central staffing process, making the officers eligible for senior leadership assignments in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), central police organizations, investigative agencies, and other Government of India departments.
Four IPS Officers Empanelled
The officers empanelled for ADG/ADG Equivalent level posts are:
- Hanif Qureshi (IPS:1996:HY) – Hyderabad Cadre
- Solomon Yash Kumar Minz (IPS:1997:MP) – Madhya Pradesh Cadre
- S. Sengathir (IPS:1997:RJ) – Rajasthan Cadre
- Naveen Arora (IPS:1997:UP) – Uttar Pradesh Cadre
What ADG-Level Empanelment Means
Empanelment at the ADG/ADG Equivalent level enables IPS officers to be considered for senior positions in the Central Government. However, empanelment does not automatically result in an appointment. Officers become eligible for posting against available vacancies based on administrative requirements and government decisions.
Such positions include leadership roles in:
- Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)
- Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
- National Investigation Agency (NIA)
- Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D)
- National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)
- Intelligence and other central security organizations
- Various ministries and departments of the Government of India
The latest empanelment reflects the Centre’s ongoing process of identifying experienced IPS officers for senior leadership positions in the country’s policing and internal security architecture.
