Pilibhit: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Pilibhit district and inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of development projects worth over ₹569 crore in the Barkhera and Bisalpur Assembly constituencies. The large-scale announcement marks a significant infrastructure and welfare push for the region.
The event also focused on welfare distribution, citizenship rights for displaced families, and political messaging around governance and development in the state.
₹569 Crore Worth Development Projects Inaugurated
During the public programme, CM Yogi Adityanath unveiled multiple development works including infrastructure, connectivity, public amenities, and welfare-related projects.
The projects are aimed at improving:
- Rural infrastructure
- Road connectivity
- Local development facilities
- Public service delivery systems
According to official statements, the government described the initiative as part of a “double-engine governance model” working in coordination with the Centre led by Narendra Modi.

Citizenship and Land Rights for Displaced Families
A key highlight of the event was the distribution of land rights and citizenship-related certificates to families displaced from erstwhile East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
CM Yogi Adityanath stated that approximately 2,500 displaced families in Pilibhit, covering nearly 15,000 people, have been granted land and citizenship-related benefits. He added that a statewide process is underway to extend similar rights to around 55,000 such families in phases.
The government said this initiative is part of efforts to provide legal recognition and long-term security to displaced Hindu Bengali families who migrated decades ago.
Welfare Schemes and Benefit Distribution
Alongside citizenship certificates, beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes were also handed over:
- Financial assistance cheques
- Official certificates
- Scheme-based entitlements
Officials described the programme as a “direct benefit delivery model” aimed at reducing delays and ensuring last-mile delivery of government support.

Political Attack on Opposition Parties
In his address, CM Yogi Adityanath targeted opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress, alleging that they historically ignored marginalized and displaced communities during their time in power.
He claimed that earlier governments focused on “appeasement politics,” while the current administration is working on inclusive development for all sections of society.
Local Demands Raised at the Event
During the programme, local representatives raised several demands before the Chief Minister, including:
- Establishment of a sugar mill
- Construction of a stadium
- Opening of a degree college
- Improvement in education, healthcare, and transport facilities
MLA representatives from Barkhera and Bisalpur also highlighted ongoing development progress and thanked the state government for infrastructure upgrades in the region.

Participation of Senior Leaders and Public Representatives
Several senior leaders and ministers were present at the event, including:
- Jitin Prasada
- Sanjay Gangwar
- Baldev Singh Aulakh
The programme witnessed participation from local MLAs, administrative officials, and a large gathering of beneficiaries.
Bengali Cultural Welcome at the Venue
The Chief Minister was welcomed with traditional Bengali cultural customs at the venue, reflecting the presence and recognition of displaced Bengali Hindu families in the region.
Officials said the symbolic gesture highlighted the government’s focus on cultural inclusion alongside administrative welfare measures.
The Pilibhit programme reflects a combined focus on infrastructure development and welfare redistribution. With projects worth ₹569 crore, citizenship rights for displaced families, and renewed political messaging, the event underlined the government’s ongoing development narrative in western Uttar Pradesh.
The administration has indicated that similar drives will continue across other districts as part of its broader state-level development and rehabilitation strategy.
