Hyderabad: The Ahuti Mk II Drone Interceptor developed by Hyderabad-based defence start-up Apollyon Dynamics has achieved a certified top speed of 498 kmph, earning recognition in the India Book of Records.

The achievement highlights India’s growing capabilities in indigenous drone and counter-drone technology. The company says the high-speed interceptor was specifically designed to counter hostile drones and loitering munitions while offering a cost-effective defence solution.

Ahuti Mk II Sets New Speed Benchmark

Apollyon Dynamics announced that its electric multi-rotor interceptor drone, Ahuti Mk II, reached a certified speed of 498 kmph.

The milestone earned the drone recognition for the maximum speed achieved by a multirotor UAV in India. The company describes it as one of the fastest drones of its kind developed in the country.

What Is Ahuti Mk II

Unlike conventional drones used for surveillance, photography, or deliveries, Ahuti Mk II was built as a dedicated interceptor. Its main purpose is to rapidly chase and neutralize hostile drones and loitering munitions before they reach their targets.

Focus On Counter-Drone Warfare

The drone was developed in response to the increasing use of low-cost drones in modern conflicts. Fast interceptor drones are becoming important tools for protecting military installations and critical infrastructure from aerial threats.

Ahuti Mk II: From 300 Kmph To 498 Kmph In Less Than A Year

The Ahuti Mk II evolved from the original Ahuti platform, which reached around 300 kmph in 2025. Instead of making small upgrades, engineers completely redesigned the aircraft for the interceptor role. This resulted in a nearly 66% increase in speed, taking it to a certified 498 kmph.

Extensive Engineering Improvements

According to the company, the drone underwent multiple redesigns involving its frame, propulsion system, and motor configuration. The engineering team focused on achieving maximum speed while maintaining operational effectiveness.

Team Behind The Record-Breaking Ahuti Mk II Drone

The project was developed by Apollyon Dynamics founders Jayant Khatri and Sourya Choudhary. Key contributions also came from team members Aman Virani, Manas Vichare, and Ishaan Suri, who worked on development, testing, and flight operations.

Startup Incubated At BITS Pilani Hyderabad

Apollyon Dynamics is incubated at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus and was incorporated in 2025. The company focuses on autonomous defence systems and unmanned technologies designed for India’s security needs.

Indian Army Already Using Company Systems

The company stated that it has already deployed unmanned systems with units of the Indian Army. This demonstrates that its technology has moved beyond the prototype stage and is being used in operational environments.
