New Delhi: The Delhi government has launched a major initiative to support women entrepreneurs by offering collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crore, aimed at encouraging startups and self-help group-led businesses in the capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the scheme is designed to strengthen women financially and enable them to become self-reliant through entrepreneurship and small business development.
Government to Provide Full Loan Guarantee for Women
Under the new scheme, the Delhi government will provide full guarantee for loans extended to women’s self-help groups (SHGs) and startups, removing the need for any collateral.
Officials said the initiative will significantly improve access to finance for women, especially those from small and medium business backgrounds.
Focus on Startups and Self-Help Groups
The scheme is expected to benefit women-led startups and SHGs by making credit easily available through banking channels. Several banks also participated in the initiative to strengthen financial inclusion and improve credit access. Rekha Gupta said the government is actively working with banks to simplify the loan process and ensure smooth disbursement of funds.
Promotion of Swadeshi and Local Products
At the Mega Self Help Group (SHG) Fair 2026 held at Unity One Mall, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of promoting indigenous products and rural entrepreneurship. She announced that the government will provide regular platforms in malls and shopping complexes to showcase and sell local and swadeshi products, helping them reach a wider market.
Push for ‘Vocal for Local’ and Self-Reliant India
The Chief Minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, saying the initiative will strengthen India’s rural and small-scale industries. She urged citizens to prefer Indian-made products such as handicrafts, khadi, and homegrown goods, stating that their quality matches global standards.
Fuel Saving and Sustainability Awareness
The government also reiterated its focus on fuel conservation and sustainable living. Initiatives such as “No Vehicle Day” and “Monday Metro” campaigns are being promoted to encourage reduced fuel consumption and environmental awareness.
SHG Fair Showcases Women Entrepreneurs
Around 24 self-help groups participated in the fair, showcasing handicrafts, khadi products, household items, and food products. The event was organized under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative to promote local craftsmanship.
Officials said the fair aims to connect women entrepreneurs directly with markets and improve their income opportunities.
Boost to Women-Led Economic Growth
The Delhi government said the combination of collateral-free loans and market access support will empower women entrepreneurs, create new employment opportunities, and strengthen the small business ecosystem in the capital.
