Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Conducts Surprise School Inspection, Orders Safety and Infrastructure Audit in Govt Schools

Focus on fire safety, building audits, and better facilities as 50-year-old school highlights urgent need for repairs and upgrades

Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of a government school, Rajkiya Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, in the capital to assess infrastructure, safety, and learning facilities.

During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted directly with students in classrooms and reviewed drinking water facilities, fire safety systems, cleanliness, heat protection arrangements, and overall academic infrastructure.

50-Year-Old School Building Found in Need of Repairs

During the inspection, it was found that the school building is nearly 50 years old, with several sections requiring urgent repair and renovation.

The Chief Minister directed the school administration to prepare a detailed list of all infrastructure needs and repair requirements so that necessary improvement work can be initiated without delay.

Strict Orders for Safety Audits in All Delhi Government Schools

Emphasizing student safety as the top priority, CM Rekha Gupta ordered:

  • Mandatory building infrastructure audits
  • Fire safety audits across all government schools in Delhi

She clearly stated that no negligence regarding student safety or basic facilities will be tolerated.

Officials have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive review of all schools and submit detailed reports for immediate corrective action.

Focus on Clean Water, Hygiene and Heat Protection

The Chief Minister stressed the need for essential facilities in schools, including:

  • Safe drinking water
  • Clean and functional toilets
  • Improved sanitation systems
  • Heat relief arrangements for students

She said ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment is a key responsibility of the government.

Government Push to Improve School Infrastructure

The Chief Minister said that many government schools in Delhi have historically suffered from poor infrastructure and lack of basic facilities.

However, the government has been working on a large-scale improvement drive over the past year to upgrade school conditions.

The focus is not only on repairing buildings but also on ensuring a safe, clean, and quality educational environment for students.

CM Rekha Gupta reiterated that the goal is to provide government school students with facilities comparable to better institutions, ensuring equal opportunities in education.

She added that strengthening school infrastructure is essential for improving learning outcomes and student development.

The surprise inspection highlights the Delhi government’s renewed focus on school safety, infrastructure upgrades, and basic facility improvements, aiming to create a better and more secure learning environment for students across the capital.
