Delhi: On the occasion of International Labour Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta extended warm greetings to workers and honoured their contribution to nation-building at a special “Shramik Samman Ceremony.” The event focused on worker welfare, safety, education, and large-scale skill development initiatives aimed at strengthening the labour force in the capital.
Workers Honoured with Safety and Education Kits
During the ceremony, CM Rekha Gupta distributed welfare support kits to benefit labour families directly. Key highlights include:
- 1,000 construction workers received safety kits to improve workplace protection
- 100 children of workers were provided education kits to support their studies
- Recognition and appreciation of “Karmayogi” workers for their role in development
The Chief Minister emphasized that workers form the backbone of infrastructure and urban development.
Skill Development Initiative for 35,000 Workers Announced
A major highlight of the event was the launch of a large-scale skill development program. The government announced training opportunities for:
- 35,000 workers annually under a structured skill development mission
This initiative aims to improve employability, upgrade technical skills, and connect workers with better livelihood opportunities in emerging sectors.
Registration and Renewal Fees Waived for Construction Workers
In a significant relief measure, the Delhi government announced the complete waiver of registration and renewal fees for registered construction workers.
The decision is expected to reduce financial burden on labour families and encourage more workers to register under government welfare schemes.
New Welfare Measures: Marriage Support and Labour Infrastructure
CM Rekha Gupta also unveiled additional welfare initiatives aimed at improving social security and access to services:
- “Samuhik Vivah Yojana” to support workers’ families with dignified marriage assistance
- Establishment of modern Labour Chawks for better worker facilitation
- Launch of “Shramik Seva Kendras” to provide essential services directly to workers
These initiatives aim to create a more structured and accessible welfare ecosystem for labour communities.
Tribute to Workers and Vision for Developed India
In her message shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister extended greetings to workers and reiterated their central role in nation-building.She highlighted that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the vision of a “Developed India” is closely linked with empowering workers, ensuring safety, dignity, and opportunity for every labourer.
