New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA), responsible for planned urban development and infrastructure growth in the national capital, is set to significantly expand its workforce. The authority will increase its staff strength by 60%, adding 1,700 new posts to improve efficiency and accelerate ongoing and upcoming development projects across Delhi.
Staff Strength to Rise from 3000 to Over 4700
At present, the DDA operates with approximately 3,000 officers and employees. With the upcoming recruitment drive, this number will rise to more than 4,700 personnel.
The expansion aims to address long-standing manpower shortages within the organisation, which have slowed down project execution and administrative processes. Officials believe the increased workforce will improve file clearance speed, project monitoring, and overall operational efficiency.
Boost for Key Urban Development Projects
The strengthened manpower is expected to directly benefit several major development initiatives across Delhi:
Narela Housing and Commercial Hub
The ongoing development of residential and commercial infrastructure in Narela will gain momentum, with improved timelines for project completion and better execution capacity.
Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Policy
The TOD model, which focuses on high-density development around metro stations, is expected to see faster implementation. This will enhance connectivity and provide modern housing and commercial spaces for residents.
Yamuna Riverfront Development
The beautification and ecological restoration of the Yamuna riverfront remain a key priority. Additional staff will help improve planning, supervision, and environmental monitoring of this ambitious project.
Step Towards Delhi Master Plan 2041 Goals
Senior officials have stated that the recruitment drive aligns with the objectives of the Delhi Master Plan 2041, which envisions a more efficient, sustainable, and globally competitive capital city.
The expanded workforce is expected to double the pace of development activities once recruitment is completed, ensuring faster delivery of housing, infrastructure, and public facilities.
Employment Boost and Infrastructure Growth
The decision is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities for technical and administrative professionals. It reflects a broader push to strengthen governance structures and improve service delivery in Delhi’s urban planning system.
Authorities believe that this expansion will help transform DDA into a more agile organisation capable of handling the growing demands of the capital’s rapidly expanding population.
