Cracking Down on the Drug Nexus: Jodhpur’s Cyclone Team Nears Century of Arrests
During his tenure in Jodhpur, IPS Vikas Kumar led a dynamic operation against drug peddlers and smugglers that earned him accolades across the state. Under his direct supervision, the “Cyclone Team” — a special unit tasked with targeting drug trafficking — arrested 98 individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
This landmark achievement not only dismantled the core network of drug smugglers in the region but also instilled fear among those involved in narcotics. The team, which is now only two arrests away from reaching its “century,” is a testament to the officer’s commitment to cleaning up the streets of Jodhpur.

An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, he earned his B.Tech degree in 1997 and worked as a software engineer before joining Indian Railways. His passion for public service led him to clear the UPSC exam and join the Indian Police Service.
Known for his strong-willed leadership and fearless decision-making, Vikas Kumar has held several key positions across the state. His previous accomplishments include:
- Seizure of record quantities of opium in Chittorgarh
- Eradication of illegal mining in Eastern Rajasthan
