Jaipur: In a significant administrative reshuffle, Rajasthan cadre 2004 batch IPS officer Vikas Kumar has been transferred from his current post as Inspector General of Police, Jodhpur Range, and appointed as Inspector General – Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Jaipur. The officer, known for his bold and effective policing style, leaves behind a formidable legacy in Jodhpur, particularly for his relentless crackdown on drug mafias.

Cracking Down on the Drug Nexus: Jodhpur’s Cyclone Team Nears Century of Arrests

During his tenure in Jodhpur, IPS Vikas Kumar led a dynamic operation against drug peddlers and smugglers that earned him accolades across the state. Under his direct supervision, the “Cyclone Team” — a special unit tasked with targeting drug trafficking — arrested 98 individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

This landmark achievement not only dismantled the core network of drug smugglers in the region but also instilled fear among those involved in narcotics. The team, which is now only two arrests away from reaching its “century,” is a testament to the officer’s commitment to cleaning up the streets of Jodhpur.

Over 200 officers were deployed as part of this mission, and Vikas Kumar’s strategy focused not just on arresting criminals but also on breaking the supply chain and safeguarding the youth from falling into addiction.
