New Delhi: Ashu Shinghal has officially assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GAIL Gas Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited, according to an official company statement released on Wednesday.
Before taking up this new role, Shinghal was serving as the Managing Director of Mahanagar Gas Limited.
Strong Academic Background and Long Career in Energy Sector
Shinghal is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, and also holds an MBA with a specialization in Operations Management.
He began his career with GAIL as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1991 and has spent more than 35 years in the hydrocarbon and natural gas sector.
Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions in areas such as:
- Corporate Strategy and Planning
- Risk Management
- Total Quality Management
- Sustainable Development
He also served as Chief Risk Officer at GAIL, handling critical financial and operational risk management responsibilities.

- Record growth in PNG connections and CNG stations

- Compressed biogas
- LNG transportation
- Battery manufacturing through joint ventures
