New Delhi: India has approved 12 new electronics manufacturing projects worth ₹7,503 crore under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). Announced on November 6, 2026, these projects are expected to generate ₹39,045 crore in production and create 7,127 direct jobs. The approvals will strengthen India’s domestic electronics supply chain, support local manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported components and materials.
Government Approves 12 More Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 12 additional applications under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the approvals during an event in New Delhi. IT Secretary S. Krishnan also highlighted the importance of these projects in strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing industry.
The newly approved projects involve a projected investment of ₹7,503 crore. They are expected to produce goods worth ₹39,045 crore and create 7,127 direct employment opportunities.
These approvals cover 10 product segments across electronic components, supply chain materials and manufacturing equipment.
Which Electronics Components Will Be Manufactured In India
The latest approvals cover four major electronic components, five supply chain products and capital goods.
The government aims to develop more manufacturing capabilities within India instead of depending heavily on foreign suppliers. The approved product categories include:
1. Electronic Components
Four electronic component manufacturing projects have received approval:
- Multi-Layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs): NeST ICELR Private Limited.
- Relays: TDConnex (Chennai) Private Limited.
- Heat Sinks: Modern Automotives Limited.
- Specialty Ceramics: Voltix Semicon Private Limited.
These components are important for electronic devices, electrical systems and industrial equipment.
2. Electronics Supply Chain Materials
Five supply chain products are also included in the latest approvals. The approved companies and their manufacturing products are:
- Copper Foil: Indo Asia Copper Limited.
- Anode Material: TACC Limited.
- Cathode Active Material: Vidyuta Materials Private Limited.
- Polypropylene Film: Enerfolie LLP.
- Camera Rims: Surface Modification Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
Copper foil is an important material used in printed circuit boards and lithium-ion cells.
Anode and cathode materials are essential parts of lithium-ion batteries. Polypropylene film is used in capacitor-grade dielectric applications.
These projects can help India develop a stronger supply chain for electronics, batteries and other advanced products.
3. Manufacturing Equipment And Capital Goods
The approvals also include projects related to capital goods and manufacturing equipment. The companies receiving approval in this category include:
- Precision Moulds And Tooling: TDConnex (Chennai) Private Limited.
- Power And Control Systems: Rockwell Automation India Private Limited.
- Factory Automation Equipment: Wipro Pari Robotics Private Limited.
These products will support the manufacturing process and help factories improve their production capabilities.
First-Time Approvals For Copper Foil, Battery Materials And Specialty Ceramics
One of the important highlights of the latest ECMS approvals is the introduction of new manufacturing capabilities.
For the first time under the scheme, the government has approved projects for domestic manufacturing of copper foil, cathode active material and specialty ceramics.
These materials are important for electronics manufacturing, battery production and advanced industrial applications.
The development of these industries could help reduce the need to import important raw materials and improve India’s position in the global electronics supply chain.
Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme: Total Investment And Employment Opportunities
With the latest 12 approvals, the total number of approved applications under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme has reached 118.
The approved projects now cover 34 products across 16 Indian states.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the overall projects involve substantial investment, production and employment opportunities.
| Key Details | Total Figures |
| Approved Applications | 118 |
| Products Covered | 34 |
| States Covered | 16 |
| Total Projected Investment | ₹77,051 Crore |
| Expected Production | ₹5,73,146 Crore |
| Expected Direct Employment | 81,755 Jobs |
These figures show the growing focus on developing India’s electronics manufacturing industry.
The scheme is also creating opportunities for businesses involved in component manufacturing, raw materials, industrial equipment and supporting industries.
Seven States To Benefit From The Latest Approvals
The newly approved projects will be established across seven Indian states. These states include:
- Gujarat
- Karnataka
- Madhya Pradesh
- Maharashtra
- Punjab
- Tamil Nadu
- Uttar Pradesh
The wider geographical distribution of these projects can support industrial development and create employment opportunities in different parts of the country.
It can also encourage investment in local manufacturing facilities and supporting businesses.
Government Launches Semicon 2.0 Web Application Portal
Alongside the latest ECMS approvals, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also launched the Semicon 2.0 Web Application Portal under the Semicon India Programme on November 6, 2026.
The portal will allow companies to submit applications under three important pillars of the programme:
- Pillar 2: Machines And Materials.
- Pillar 3: Setting Up More Semiconductor Fabs.
- Pillar 4: Strengthening ATMP And OSAT Industries.
ATMP stands for Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging, while OSAT means Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test.
These activities are important for converting semiconductor chips into usable products and strengthening the overall chip manufacturing process.
The Union Cabinet has approved a financial outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore for Semicon 2.0 under the India Semiconductor Mission.
The programme focuses on six strategic areas, including chip design, manufacturing equipment, semiconductor factories, chip packaging, research and development, and talent development.
