Uttarakhand CM Dhami Approves ₹1,096 Crore for Infrastructure, Panchayats and Kumbh 2027 Projects

Major funds allocated for urban development, rural panchayats, education, Mukteshwar parking project, Haridwar beautification, and Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations across Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved development projects and financial allocations worth ₹1,096 crore for infrastructure development, urban and rural local bodies, education, and preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2027 in Uttarakhand.

The massive funding package aims to strengthen urban infrastructure, improve rural governance, support educational institutions, and upgrade facilities ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Haridwar.

₹331 Crore Released for Urban Local Bodies

Under the Sixth State Finance Commission, the Uttarakhand government has approved ₹328.27 crore for all urban local bodies for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27.

Additionally, three non-elected urban bodies will receive ₹3 crore for the first half of the financial year.

In total, urban local bodies across the state will receive ₹331.27 crore to support civic infrastructure, sanitation, road works, and public services.

₹352 Crore Approved for Panchayati Raj Institutions

The state government has also allocated significant funds for three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions to accelerate rural development projects.

The approved amounts include:

  • ₹82.20 crore for District Panchayats
  • ₹75.46 crore for Block Panchayats
  • ₹194.61 crore for Gram Panchayats

Overall, ₹352.27 crore has been sanctioned for rural local governance and village-level development works across Uttarakhand.

Bridge Construction Approved in Kotabagh Area

The Chief Minister approved ₹9.43 crore for the construction of a bridge over the Guruni Nala at Pataliya in Kotabagh, located in the Kaladhungi Assembly constituency of Nainital district.

The project is expected to improve local connectivity and ease transportation for nearby villages.

Mukteshwar Parking Project Gets ₹9.89 Crore

To address parking issues in the popular tourist destination of Mukteshwar, the government has sanctioned ₹9.89 crore for the construction of a car parking facility at Mohan Bazaar in Ramgarh block.

An initial installment of ₹3.95 crore has been approved for immediate release to begin the project work.

The parking facility is expected to benefit both tourists and local residents who have long faced congestion problems in the area.

Relief for Teachers and Educational Institutions

The Uttarakhand government has also focused on strengthening the education sector through fresh financial approvals.

₹80 Crore Released for Aided Schools

Under the elementary education department, ₹80 crore has been released as the first installment from the total ₹160 crore allocation meant for salary payments of employees and teachers working in government-aided non-government schools.

₹300 Crore Approved for Secondary Education

The government has further approved ₹300 crore for the secondary education department for the period from April to September 2026.

The move is expected to provide relief to thousands of teachers and staff members awaiting timely salary payments.

Kumbh Mela 2027 Preparations Begin in Haridwar

Keeping the Kumbh Mela 2027 in mind, the Uttarakhand government has approved several urban development and beautification projects in Haridwar.

Road Renovation and Internal Route Upgrades

A budget of ₹6.44 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation of internal roads and routes around:

  • Shankaracharya Chowk
  • Devpura Chowk
  • Chandracharya Chowk
  • Arya Nagar Chowk
  • Barrier to Gugal Temple Road

These works are aimed at improving traffic movement and public convenience during the mega religious event.

Junction Beautification and Traffic Improvements

The government has also approved ₹6.83 crore for junction improvement and beautification projects at:

  • Ranipur Mod
  • Shankar Ashram
  • Shiv Murti Chowk
  • Jhanda Chowk

The projects will help enhance traffic management and urban aesthetics in Haridwar ahead of the Kumbh gathering.

Road Sweeping Machines Approved for Kumbh Cleanliness

To strengthen sanitation arrangements during Kumbh Mela 2027, the government has sanctioned ₹5.95 crore for the procurement and commissioning of diesel-operated self-propelled vacuum-based EV road sweeping machines.

These advanced cleaning machines will help maintain cleanliness in Haridwar during the arrival of millions of pilgrims and tourists.

Uttarakhand Government Focuses on Balanced Development

With the approval of ₹1,096 crore across multiple sectors, the Uttarakhand government is focusing on balanced urban and rural development, tourism infrastructure, education support, and large-scale religious event preparations. The funding is expected to boost public infrastructure, improve civic amenities, generate local employment opportunities, and strengthen preparations for one of India’s biggest religious gatherings in 2027.
