Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel launched the statewide ‘Namo Swachhta Abhiyan’ and ‘Amrutpan Abhiyan’ from Gandhinagar, calling for cleanliness to become a shared social responsibility and a lifelong habit among citizens.
The Chief Minister emphasized that cleanliness should not remain a week-long campaign but should be adopted as a permanent way of life to improve public health and well-being.
CM Emphasizes “Prevention is Better Than Cure” and Healthy Living
Addressing the launch event, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reiterated the importance of health awareness, stating that:
- “Being healthy is the foremost happiness”
- “Prevention is Better Than Cure” must become a daily life principle
He stressed that cleanliness and health are deeply interconnected and urged citizens to avoid littering and actively participate in maintaining public hygiene.
The CM also highlighted various central government initiatives such as:
- Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
- Har Ghar Jal Yojana
- Ujjwala Yojana
- Ayushman Bharat
He said these programs have significantly improved healthcare access and quality of life across India.
Seven-Day Intensive Cleanliness Drive in Hospitals Across Gujarat
As part of the initiative, a seven-day statewide cleanliness drive (July 1 to July 7) has been launched across all government healthcare institutions in Gujarat.
Under the campaign:
- Old furniture and obsolete medical equipment will be removed
- Unused records will be disposed of systematically
- Hospital premises will be cleaned and reorganized
The aim is to create a cleaner, safer, and more hygienic healthcare environment across the state.
Focus on Nutrition and Mother-Child Health Under Amrutpan Abhiyan
The Amrutpan Abhiyan focuses on improving nutrition and healthcare for mothers and children.
The Chief Minister emphasized:
- Proper nutrition for every newborn
- Awareness on maternal and child health
- Building a healthy foundation for a stronger society
He said that healthy children are essential for a developed nation and a strong future generation.
Health Minister Calls Cleanliness a Daily Hospital Practice
Health Minister Mr. Praful Pansheriya stated that cleanliness should become a permanent practice in hospitals, not just a temporary campaign.
He announced that under the initiative:
- Broken furniture, outdated computers, and unused vehicles will be removed
- Condemned ambulances will be cleared from hospital premises
- Infrastructure repairs like lighting, toilets, doors, and plumbing will be prioritized
He said the initiative is part of a broader effort to improve patient facilities across Civil Hospitals, PHCs, and CHCs in Gujarat.
Campaign Covers Over 11,900 Healthcare Institutions
The statewide drive will cover 11,935 government healthcare institutions, ensuring cleanliness from hospital premises to rooftops.
The initiative is being conducted as part of celebrations marking 12 years of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s leadership, and aims to strengthen hospital hygiene standards across the state.
Officials stated that the campaign follows the guiding principle:
“Clean Mind, Clean Body, Clean Healthcare Institution.”
Strong Push for Infection Control and Better Healthcare Services
Chief Minister Patel also emphasized the importance of infection control in reducing hospital-acquired infections.
He said healthcare workers and citizens must work together to build a:
- Clean
- Healthy
- Viksit Gujarat
He also described healthcare as a noble service to humanity and said the blessings of patients are the greatest reward for medical professionals.
Doctors Honoured on National Doctors’ Day
On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, the Chief Minister extended greetings and appreciation to doctors across Gujarat for their dedication and service to society.
Health Minister Praful Pansheriya also praised doctors, stating that the campaign is designed to make cleanliness a core part of hospital functioning rather than a one-time effort.
Statewide Hospital Cleanliness Infrastructure Upgrade
As part of the campaign:
- Unused hospital infrastructure will be cleared within seven days
- Renovation of damaged facilities will be prioritized
- Space will be repurposed to improve patient care services
The Health Department confirmed that the initiative will improve efficiency and patient experience across the state.
