FEROZEPUR (Punjab): The Punjab State Election Commission has appointed Harpreet Singh Jaggi (IPS: 2012: PB) as Police Observer for the Ferozepur-Fazilka Range in view of the upcoming Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat Elections 2026.
Currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, Jaggi will supervise election-related policing and law-and-order arrangements across the concerned districts during the civic body polls.
Appointment Aimed at Ensuring Free and Fair Elections
Officials said the appointment has been made to ensure peaceful, transparent and fair conduct of the municipal elections in the region.
The Police Observer has appealed to voters to exercise their democratic rights fearlessly and avoid coming under any kind of pressure, intimidation or inducement during the election process.

About IPS Officer Harpreet Singh Jaggi
Mr Jaggi is a 2012-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Punjab cadre. He was promoted to the IPS from the Punjab Police Service (PPS) under the Select List of 2021.
Born on May 1, 1969, Jaggi has served in various important policing and vigilance assignments in Punjab. He currently holds the post of DIG in the Economic Offences Wing of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.
The Ministry of Home Affairs formally notified his induction into the IPS in August 2025 alongside several other Punjab Police Service officers.
He was also elevated to the IPS Selection Grade rank within the Punjab Police administration.

The appointment comes as preparations intensify for the upcoming urban local body elections across Punjab. Election authorities are strengthening administrative and security arrangements to ensure smooth polling and maintain law and order during the electoral process.
