Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren held an online review meeting with senior officials and all district commissioners to assess the rising temperature and heatwave conditions across the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed district administrations to work in close coordination with concerned departments to ensure quick resolution of electricity-related complaints, including power cuts and transformer failures.
Strict Instructions on Power Supply and Transformer Repairs
CM Soren emphasized that any disruption in electricity supply during extreme heat must be addressed on priority.
He instructed officials to ensure:
- Immediate repair of damaged transformers
- Uninterrupted electricity supply in all districts
- Fast resolution of power outage complaints
The Chief Minister also stressed a “zero tolerance” approach towards negligence in essential services.

Health System Alert for Heatwave and Heatstroke Cases
Focusing on public health, the Chief Minister directed all districts to remain fully prepared to handle heatwave and heatstroke cases.
He instructed hospitals and health centres to ensure:
- Dedicated heatwave treatment units
- Adequate availability of ORS and essential medicines
- Proper stock of drinking water and medical equipment
- Sufficient deployment of healthcare workers
He also emphasized strengthening services at hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and other medical institutions.
Special Focus on Drinking Water Supply Management
CM Soren also reviewed the drinking water situation and instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply across the state.
Key directions included:
- Regular monitoring of water supply schemes and handpumps
- Deployment of water tankers in scarcity-affected areas
- Immediate activation of alternative water sources where needed
He directed that all complaints related to drinking water should be resolved without delay.
District Officers Asked to Work from Ground Level
Reinforcing administrative accountability, the Chief Minister instructed Deputy Commissioners to conduct regular field visits.
He said officials must:
- Visit rural and affected areas frequently
- Interact directly with local people
- Resolve issues on the spot
- Share field inspection reports with headquarters
He emphasized that governance should be visible at the grassroots level.
Stress on Coordination and Public Sensitivity
CM Soren urged officials to work with better coordination and human sensitivity to effectively handle public issues during extreme weather conditions.
He stated that only timely action and inter-departmental coordination can ensure relief for citizens.
