Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed major reforms in the state’s education sector, including the expansion of CM Schools of Excellence to 5,000, faster teacher recruitment, and improved infrastructure in government schools. The decisions were taken during a high-level review meeting of the School Education and Literacy Department held at Jharkhand Secretariat.
Focus on Quality Education and Transparent Implementation
CM Soren emphasized that all government schemes must reach students in a timely and transparent manner. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing quality and modern education to every child in Jharkhand.
The review meeting assessed achievements for FY 2025–26 and discussed the action plan for 2026–27.
Teacher Recruitment to Be Accelerated, Vacancies to Be Filled Soon
The Chief Minister directed officials to speed up the teacher recruitment process and ensure that vacant posts are filled without delay.
He also made it clear that no school should be left functioning with only a single teacher for an extended period, stressing the need for adequate staffing across all institutions.
5,000 CM School of Excellence to Strengthen Rural Education
One of the key decisions taken in the meeting was to expand the number of CM Schools of Excellence to 5,000 across the state.
Key objectives of the initiative:
- Expand quality education in rural and remote areas
- Improve learning outcomes in government schools
- Ensure equal access to modern education infrastructure
CM Soren said strengthening education at the grassroots level remains a top priority for the government.
Internet and Digital Infrastructure in All Schools
The Chief Minister also directed that all government schools must be equipped with reliable internet connectivity and functional ICT labs.
He said digital learning tools are essential for improving educational outcomes and preparing students for future opportunities.
Focus on Reducing Dropout Rate
The government informed that Jharkhand has shown steady improvement in reducing dropout rates and is performing better than the national average.
Key measures include:
- Special enrolment drives for dropout students
- Coordination with Labour Department to identify out-of-school children
- Reintegration of working children into schools
CM Soren praised these efforts and asked for further strengthening of the campaign.
Sports, Transport and Green Initiatives in Schools
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of holistic development in education.
He directed officials to:
- Promote sports activities in schools
- Identify and support talented athletes
- Launch tree plantation drives in school campuses
- Introduce pilot transport facilities for students
He said these initiatives will improve attendance and overall student well-being.
New School for Martyrs’ Children Under Planning
The proposed “Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Vidyalaya” was also discussed during the meeting.
This school will provide free and quality education to children of martyred police personnel. The Chief Minister instructed officials to submit its Detailed Project Report (DPR) within one week.
Jharkhand Pushes for Modern, Inclusive Education System
With expansion of excellence schools, faster recruitment, and digital infrastructure upgrades, Jharkhand aims to build a more inclusive and modern education system focused on quality learning, reduced dropout rates, and equal opportunities for all students.
