Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in wheat procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP), with over 13.36 lakh farmers benefiting so far in the ongoing procurement season. The state has procured 103.48 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, with the process still continuing.
Officials said the state has also ensured timely payments and improved procurement infrastructure across all centres.
Record Wheat Procurement from Small and Marginal Farmers
Out of the total procurement, a significant share has come from small and marginal farmers.
Key figures:
- Total farmers covered: 13.36 lakh
- Total wheat procured: 103.48 lakh metric tonnes
- Small & marginal farmers: 8.09 lakh
- Procurement from them: 32.14 lakh metric tonnes
The government said wheat procurement this year is the highest in the last 10 years, excluding the COVID-19 period.
Procurement Target Raised to 100 Lakh Metric Tonnes
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that due to the efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the initial procurement target of 78 lakh metric tonnes was increased to 100 lakh metric tonnes by the Central Government.
The state has already exceeded this revised target.

CM Mohan Yadav Personally Monitoring Procurement Process
The state government said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is continuously monitoring the wheat procurement process.
He has also conducted surprise inspections at procurement centres to review:
- Weighing arrangements
- Availability of gunny bags
- Facilities for farmers
- Payment process
The procurement period for farmers who had already booked slots has been extended from May 23 to May 28.
Over ₹22,842 Crore Paid Directly to Farmers
The government has so far transferred more than ₹22,842.9 crore directly into farmers’ accounts against wheat procurement.
Key improvements at procurement centres:
- Weighing scales increased from 4 to 6 per centre
- Local authorities empowered to increase equipment further
- Token generation time extended till 10 PM
- Payment processing allowed till midnight
- Procurement conducted six days a week
MSP and Bonus Ensuring Better Returns to Farmers
Farmers are receiving ₹2,585 per quintal MSP along with a ₹40 per quintal state bonus, taking the total procurement rate to ₹2,625 per quintal.
The government said adequate storage arrangements have also been made for procured wheat.
Strong Infrastructure Support at Procurement Centres
To ensure smooth procurement, all centres have been equipped with:
- Gunny bags (bardana)
- Weighing machines
- Labour support
- Computer systems
- Quality testing equipment
- Fans and cleaning tools
- Drinking water and seating facilities
Madhya Pradesh Strengthens Farmer-Friendly Procurement System
With record procurement, higher MSP support, and improved logistics, Madhya Pradesh continues to strengthen its farmer-friendly procurement ecosystem.
The government said the ongoing procurement process will further enhance farmer income and ensure transparent, efficient grain procurement across the state.
