Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the upcoming Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain will allow devotees to take a sacred dip in the natural flowing waters of Maa Shipra, marking a historic spiritual milestone after nearly six decades.
He was addressing the concluding ceremony of the Shipra Tirth Parikrama in Bhopal, where he highlighted preparations underway for the grand religious gathering.
30 Km Shipra Ghats to Enhance Devotee Experience at Simhastha 2028
CM Yadav said that more than 30 kilometres of newly developed ghats along the Shipra River will provide pilgrims with a seamless and spiritually enriching bathing experience during Simhastha 2028.
He added that for the first time in decades, devotees will be able to perform holy bathing directly in the flowing waters of Maa Shipra.

The Chief Minister noted that during Simhastha 2016, arrangements were made using Narmada water, but devotees had expressed a strong desire to bathe in the natural flow of Shipra.
He said the government has now taken necessary steps to fulfill this long-standing spiritual expectation.
Shipra Tirth Parikrama Concludes Amid Cultural Celebrations
The concluding ceremony of the Shipra Tirth Parikrama was marked by devotional atmosphere and cultural performances.
CM Yadav said the illuminated riverbanks created a festive “Diwali-like” ambience and reflected the deep spiritual significance of the event.
He extended best wishes to all participants and said the Shipra ghats between Triveni and Siddhnath are sacred and hold immense religious importance.
Development and Heritage Preservation Go Hand in Hand: CM
CM Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is witnessing a balance between development and heritage conservation.
He referred to major cultural and judicial developments, including the Ram Mandir movement in Ayodhya, as examples of India’s tradition of harmony and unity. He emphasized that mutual cooperation and social harmony remain strong pillars of Indian society.
Water Conservation and River Revival Initiatives
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, a three-month-long water conservation campaign focused on restoring and protecting:
- Wells
- Ponds
- Rivers
- Lakes and reservoirs
He said that public participation has played a key role in strengthening water conservation efforts across Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh has also emerged as a leader in river interlinking initiatives, according to the state government.
Cultural Program Highlights with Maithili Thakur’s Performance
The event also featured a devotional musical performance by renowned singer and Bihar MLA Maithili Thakur. CM Yadav welcomed her to Madhya Pradesh and appreciated her contribution to promoting Indian devotional music and culture.
