Patna: The Bihar Agriculture Department has ordered strict action after 700 bags of NFL urea were found missing from a government-sealed fertiliser warehouse in East Champaran. The inspection team also seized 750 bags of IPL urea found without valid documents.
Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha directed the District Agriculture Officer to inform the District Magistrate and ensure legal action. He has also sought a report on the action taken within 24 hours.
700 Bags of NFL Urea Found Missing
The warehouse of Manokamna Fertilisers in Banjaria had earlier been sealed after authorities seized 780 bags of NFL urea, along with 25 bags of calcium and 30 bags of sulphur.
During an inspection on September 3, the government seal was found broken. Only 80 of the previously seized 780 bags of NFL urea were found inside, leaving 700 bags unaccounted for.

750 Bags of IPL Urea Seized
The inspection team also found around 500 bags of IPL urea in a truck parked outside the warehouse and another 250 bags inside the premises.
The concerned persons could not produce valid documents for the fertiliser. Authorities consequently seized all 750 bags of IPL urea.
Three Named in FIR
Ambika Sah of Manokamna Fertilisers, Banjaria, has been named as an accused. The truck driver and owner have also been booked.
An FIR has been registered against all three in connection with the case.
Agriculture Department Adopts Zero-Tolerance Approach
Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said the department is following a zero-tolerance policy towards fertiliser irregularities, particularly where farmers’ interests are involved.
He said ensuring transparent and easy access to quality fertilisers remains a priority. The department will take strict action under the law against any irregularities detected in fertiliser distribution.
The case highlights the importance of monitoring fertiliser stocks and strengthening enforcement to ensure that agricultural inputs reach farmers through proper channels.
