New Delhi: In a key bureaucratic move, the Central Government has appointed Ajit Roy, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre, as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Appointment Under Central Staffing Scheme
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on April 16, Ajit Roy, a 2013-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has been selected for central deputation following recommendation by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He will serve in the post for a tenure of four years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The government has directed that he be relieved of his current duties immediately to take up his new assignment in New Delhi.

Joining Timeline and Conditions
As per the existing guidelines under the Central Staffing Scheme, the officer is required to join within three weeksfrom the date of the appointment order.
Failure to comply within the stipulated period may lead to debarment from the Central Staffing Scheme, as per the norms laid down by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
However, the order clarifies that if the officer is currently engaged in election-related duties, he may be relieved only after obtaining clearance from the Election Commission of India.
