From a middle-class family in Delhi to the Indian Police Service, IPS officer Anu Beniwal’s journey has been marked by persistence, repeated setbacks and a reputation for taking firm administrative decisions.
Her name has now come into focus after an investigation into allegations against Katni CSP Neha Pachisia led to a report on the basis of which disciplinary action was taken against the officer.

Investigation That Put Anu Beniwal in the Spotlight
Neha Pachisia, who had entered the police service after clearing the MPPSC examination and had previously worked as an air hostess, is facing allegations linked to land-related fraud.
According to the report, Pachisia’s office was also sealed during the investigation. One of the allegations concerns a piece of land reportedly valued at Rs 82 lakh that was allegedly registered for just Rs 18 lakh.
The allegations prompted an investigation, with Anu Beniwal preparing the report on the matter.
The report was subsequently submitted to the authorities, following which Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered Pachisia’s suspension, according to the report.
Anu Beniwal Cleared UPSC on Her Fourth Attempt
Beniwal’s own journey to the IPS was far from easy.
Born in Delhi’s Pitampura, she comes from a middle-class family. According to the report, her family went through financial difficulties after her father’s business shut down.
Her mother reportedly contributed to the family’s finances by taking up tailoring work, while continuing to support her daughter’s education.
Although Beniwal was academically strong, cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination proved to be a much tougher challenge.
She failed in her first three attempts.
Rather than giving up, Beniwal worked on her shortcomings and learned from her earlier mistakes.
Her persistence eventually paid off when she cleared the 2021 UPSC examination on her fourth attempt with an All India Rank of 217, securing her place in the IPS.
IPS Officer Husband Also From 2022 Batch
Beniwal’s professional journey also has a connection within the IPS.
Her husband, Ayush Jakhar, is also an IPS officer from the 2022 batch.
Beniwal is currently posted as an ASP in Jabalpur and has reportedly earned a reputation for her firm working style and decisive approach to policing and administration.
Known for a Firm Administrative Approach
Over the course of her career, Beniwal has worked on issues ranging from traffic management to administrative accountability.
Her approach has reportedly been marked by a willingness to take direct action when she believes there are lapses in governance or enforcement.
The investigation involving Neha Pachisia has brought that aspect of her working style into sharper focus.
According to the report, Beniwal’s investigation and subsequent findings played a key role in the action taken against Pachisia.
From Setbacks to a Place in the IPS
Beniwal’s story stands out not simply because of her current role, but because of the road she travelled to reach it.
Three unsuccessful UPSC attempts did not end her civil services ambitions. Instead, she returned for a fourth attempt, secured Rank 217 and entered the IPS.
Today, her name is drawing attention in Madhya Pradesh’s administrative circles following the investigation that preceded action against a fellow police officer.
Her journey from financial difficulties and repeated examination setbacks to a senior policing role has also made her story one of persistence for many young civil services aspirants.
