New Delhi: In a major boost to rural entrepreneurship and agricultural exports, Amrapali mangoes from Jharkhand’s Gumla and Deoghar districts have reached the Dubai market for the first time. With support from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), a commercial export consignment of 2 metric tonnes of Amrapali mangoes has been shipped to Dubai.
The initiative has provided women-led Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) with significantly higher returns, with farmers receiving around 180% more price compared to local markets.
Two-Tonne Mango Consignment Sent to Dubai’s Lulu Stores
The exported mango consignment has been sent for sale at Lulu Stores in Dubai. The export was carried out by Fair Exports (India) Private Limited.
The mangoes were sourced from three women-led Farmer Producer Companies promoted under the Palash initiative of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS).
The two-metric-tonne shipment included:
- 1 metric tonne from MVM Baghima Palkot Producer Company Limited and Raidih Agri Producer Company Limited of Gumla district
- 1 metric tonne from Mohanpur Aajeevika Mahila Kisan Producer Society of Deoghar district

Tribal Women Farmers Develop Mango Orchards Under Birsa Harit Gram Yojana
The mango orchards were developed by tribal women farmers under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, implemented with the support of MGNREGA and the Jharkhand Government.
These orchards have helped women farmers create sustainable sources of income while promoting horticulture-based livelihoods in rural areas.
The three Farmer Producer Companies involved in the export initiative have:
- More than 1,500 shareholders
- Representation of over 50,000 farmers collectively
The export success highlights the potential of women-led agricultural enterprises in Jharkhand.
APEDA Supports Farmers with Export Training and Quality Standards
APEDA played an important role in preparing farmers and producer companies for international markets.
The authority conducted specialized training programmes in Gumla to educate farmers about:
- International quality standards
- Post-harvest management
- Export procedures
- Global market requirements
These initiatives helped farmers understand the processes required to meet international buyer expectations.
Women Entrepreneurs Receive Export-Oriented Training in Deoghar
Along with farmer training, APEDA also organized an export-focused capacity-building programme in Deoghar for women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Around 105 participants attended the programme, where they received information about:
- APEDA schemes
- Financial assistance opportunities
- Export procedures
- Global agricultural trade opportunities
The programme aimed to strengthen women’s participation in agricultural exports and encourage more rural entrepreneurs to explore international markets.
Officials Participate in Flag-Off Ceremony
The export consignment was flagged off in the presence of officials from:
- District administrations of Gumla and Deoghar
- Deputy Commissioners
- Deputy Development Commissioners
- APEDA representatives
- JSLPS officials
- Other government departments
The collaboration between government agencies, farmer producer companies, and exporters is expected to create new opportunities for Jharkhand’s farmers.

The successful export of Amrapali mangoes from Jharkhand marks an important milestone in connecting tribal farmers with international markets.
