In a significant move, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has promoted eight IPS officers from the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) cadre, who are currently posted under the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. The promotion decisions, which take effect from January 1, 2025, or the date of assumption of charge, whichever is earlier, encompass a range of advancements in ranks.
According to several MHA orders, four officers have been elevated to the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP), two to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) grade, and two others have been promoted to the prestigious Selection Grade (Level 13 in the pay matrix).
Promoted to IGP Grade:
- Sunil Gupta (2007 batch): Currently serving as in-charge IGP Crime, J&K.
- Sujit Kumar (2007 batch): Serving as in-charge IGP Security, J&K.
- Vivek Gupta (2007 batch): Serving as in-charge IGP Railways, J&K.
- Mohammad Suleman Choudhary (2007 batch): Serving as in-charge IGP Traffic, J&K.
These officers have been recognized for their outstanding service and leadership in their respective areas of responsibility within Jammu and Kashmir.
Promoted to DIGP Grade:
- Vinod Kumar (2011 batch): Serving as in-charge DIG Armed, Jammu.
- Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar (2011 batch): Currently deputed to the Government of India as Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat’s class-I Executive Cadre.
Both officers have made significant contributions in maintaining law and order and ensuring the security of the region.
Promoted to Selection Grade (Level 13 in the Pay Matrix):
- Sargun Shukla (2012 batch): Serving as Commandant, IR-15th Battalion.
- Sandeep Choudhary (2012 batch): Deputed to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Jammu as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
This recognition places the officers in the prestigious Selection Grade, a mark of their excellence in policing and administrative skills.
