MP’s 10-Year Growth Plan: Renewable Energy, Data Centres and Smart Manufacturing in Focus

Madhya Pradesh is exploring a 10-year investment programme focused on green energy, data centres, smart manufacturing, e-mobility and agricultural machinery.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is looking at a long-term investment programme covering renewable energy, green hydrogen, data centres, smart manufacturing, e-mobility and agricultural machinery as part of its wider development and industrial expansion plans.

The proposed 10-year programme was discussed during Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s meeting with Rana Holdings Limited Chairman and Managing Director Dr Darshan Singh Rana on September 8, on the third day of AIM Congress-2026 in Dubai.

The discussions centred on investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh and the sectors that can strengthen the state’s energy, digital and manufacturing infrastructure.

Ten-Year Investment Programme Proposed

The proposed programme is expected to be implemented in phases, with defined project milestones. Rather than focusing on a single project, the discussions covered multiple sectors that align with Madhya Pradesh’s broader industrial and infrastructure priorities.

The areas identified include:

  • Solar power, green hydrogen and energy generation and storage infrastructure
  • AI, cloud and high-performance computing data centre campuses
  • Critical minerals recycling and advanced smart manufacturing
  • E-mobility, electronics and agricultural machinery manufacturing

The state government has indicated that it will support projects through land, infrastructure, skilling, approvals and coordinated implementation.

Green Energy and Hydrogen Take Centre Stage

Renewable energy is one of the key areas being considered under the proposed investment programme. Madhya Pradesh has been expanding its focus on green and renewable energy, while the latest discussions also brought green hydrogen and energy storage into the investment agenda.

Developing generation and storage infrastructure can support the energy requirements of new industrial projects while also helping the state build capacity for emerging clean-energy industries.

For Madhya Pradesh, the focus is not limited to power generation. The proposed plan links energy infrastructure with manufacturing, technology and other industries that require reliable and modern infrastructure.

Building a Digital Infrastructure Base

Another major component of the discussions was the development of AI, cloud and high-performance computing data centre campuses.

The proposed digital infrastructure would support the growing demand for computing and data services and add a new dimension to Madhya Pradesh’s technology and industrial ecosystem.

The focus on data centres also fits into the state’s broader efforts to attract technology-driven investment and create infrastructure for new-age industries.

Smart Manufacturing and Critical Minerals

Smart manufacturing was another important area discussed during the meeting. The proposed plan includes facilities using advanced industrial technologies, including critical minerals recycling.

Such facilities can connect manufacturing with resource efficiency and emerging industrial technologies. They can also support the development of supply chains around industries that are becoming increasingly important for electric mobility, electronics and other advanced manufacturing activities.

The discussions also covered manufacturing linked to local supply chains, particularly in e-mobility, electronics and agricultural machinery.

Opportunities for Jobs and Industrial Growth

The proposed investment areas have a direct connection with industrial employment and infrastructure development in the state.

Green energy and power infrastructure can support new industrial activity, while manufacturing projects can create demand for skilled workers, suppliers and supporting services. Data centres and technology projects, meanwhile, can expand opportunities in digital and technical fields.

Agricultural machinery manufacturing could also strengthen the connection between Madhya Pradesh’s large agricultural economy and its industrial sector.

The government’s proposed support in skilling is particularly relevant as the expansion of advanced manufacturing and technology projects will require workers with specialised capabilities.

MP Highlights Land and Power Availability

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s investment opportunities across sectors. He also pointed to the state’s work in green and renewable energy.

The Chief Minister said Madhya Pradesh has surplus power and a land bank that can support new investment projects. These resources, along with government support for infrastructure, approvals and implementation, can help facilitate large-scale industrial development.

Dr Yadav also invited Dr Darshan Singh Rana to the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2027, where the state is expected to showcase investment opportunities across sectors.

Global Investment Interest in MP

Rana Holdings has indicated interest across several of the sectors discussed with the Chief Minister. According to Dr Rana, the company invests through its own capital and manages investments through subsidiary companies.

The company’s portfolio is valued at around ₹1.76 lakh crore, with business interests in smart manufacturing, data centres, clean energy, green hydrogen, mobility and agricultural machinery. Its operations extend across the UAE, US, Africa, Portugal, Paraguay and Thailand.

For Madhya Pradesh, however, the larger significance of the Dubai discussions lies in the range of sectors being considered for future investment.

A Broader Development Strategy

The proposed 10-year programme reflects Madhya Pradesh’s effort to combine traditional industrial development with newer areas such as AI infrastructure, green hydrogen, clean energy, e-mobility and advanced manufacturing.

If these investment proposals move ahead through defined project stages, they could add new industrial capacity, strengthen energy and digital infrastructure and create opportunities for skilled employment and local supply chains.

The focus on multiple sectors also gives Madhya Pradesh a broader development base as it seeks to attract long-term investment and position itself as a destination for future-ready industries.
