Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has outlined plans for a nearly 600-km integrated industrial corridor connecting Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore, with the project expected to support industrial development across seven districts and neighbouring areas.
The proposed corridor is intended to connect the state’s eastern, central and western regions through an integrated network of industries, agriculture, logistics, technology and services. According to the Chief Minister, the project will link the metropolitan regions of Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore and form the foundation of an integrated industrial belt in Madhya Pradesh.
Yadav shared the details at a programme held at Samvad Bhavan in his official residence in Bhopal, where representatives of the Mahakoshal Chamber of Commerce and Industries and other business organisations from Jabalpur felicitated him following the state Cabinet’s approval of the corridor.
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh and chamber president Ravi Gupta were among those present.

The state government plans to complete land identification and prepare the master plan for the corridor within the next three to six months.

The subsequent six to 12 months will be used to begin work on industrial areas and the infrastructure required to support them, according to the Chief Minister.
The government has also prepared a roadmap for developing industrial land, attracting investment and creating employment by the end of March 2028.
Key targets announced for the project include:
- Corridor length: Approximately 600 km.
- Regions to be connected: Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore metropolitan regions.
- Industrial land: Development of 10,000 acres by the end of March 2028.
- Investment target: ₹1 lakh crore.
- Employment target: More than three lakh direct and indirect jobs.
- Initial funding: ₹100 crore for a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) company to be established by the state government.
The proposed SPV will be wholly owned by the Madhya Pradesh government and will be established to oversee the development of the industrial corridor.
Jabalpur to Focus on Engineering and Defence Manufacturing
The corridor is expected to support different industrial activities across the regions it connects, with sectoral priorities based on the strengths and development plans of individual areas.
Jabalpur, described by the Chief Minister as the state’s cultural capital, is expected to benefit from the development of industrial facilities alongside engineering and manufacturing activities.
The government has identified the following sectors for the region:
- Engineering industries
- Defence manufacturing
- Aerospace ancillary industries
- Food processing
- Logistics
The project is intended to strengthen Jabalpur’s role as an industrial centre while improving its connectivity with Bhopal and Indore.
District-Wise Industrial Development Plans
The government has outlined sectoral opportunities for several districts along the proposed corridor.
The proposed focus areas include:
- Jabalpur: Engineering, defence manufacturing, aerospace ancillary industries, food processing and logistics.
- Narsinghpur: Agricultural processing and food parks.
- Raisen: Agricultural processing and food parks.
- Bhopal: Technology, electronics, information technology, knowledge services and shared business infrastructure.
- Sehore–Dewas region: Food processing and warehousing.
- Indore: Information technology, advanced manufacturing, logistics and other investment sectors.
These priorities are intended to create links between industrial production, agricultural processing, warehousing and logistics across the corridor.
The government has said that essential infrastructure, including electricity, water and roads, will be made available to support investors.
₹100 Crore Initial Investment for Government-Owned SPV
To facilitate the corridor’s development, the Madhya Pradesh government plans to establish a special-purpose vehicle with an initial investment of ₹100 crore.
The proposed company will be wholly owned by the state government and will serve as the institutional vehicle for developing the integrated industrial corridor.
The government has set March 2028 as the target for developing 10,000 acres of industrial land, mobilising ₹1 lakh crore in investment and creating more than three lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.
These figures are government targets; the actual outcomes will depend on implementation and investment mobilisation.
Industrial Corridor Expected to Benefit the Mahakoshal Region
Yadav said the project would be particularly significant for the Mahakoshal region, including Jabalpur.
The corridor is designed to connect Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore through a single integrated industrial network, linking areas with different administrative, commercial and industrial functions.
The Chief Minister said the government was working to provide the infrastructure and other facilities required for industrial development and to reduce the distance between businesses and emerging investment opportunities.
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh thanked the Chief Minister on behalf of Jabalpur residents and said the state government was committed to developing the Mahakoshal region.
The event was attended by industrialists, traders and business representatives from 11 districts of the region. They welcomed the Cabinet’s approval of the industrial corridor and invited the Chief Minister to visit Jabalpur.
Madhya Pradesh’s Industrial Development Plans
The proposed Jabalpur–Bhopal–Indore corridor forms part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s broader efforts to attract investment and develop industrial infrastructure.
By connecting three metropolitan regions and identifying sector-specific development priorities across districts, the project aims to establish an integrated network covering manufacturing, technology, agriculture, food processing and logistics.
The next stages will involve land identification, preparation of the master plan, establishment of the government-owned SPV and development of the industrial areas and supporting infrastructure.
