Bhopal: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has emphasized that medical practice is not merely a profession but a form of human service. He said that the state aims to nurture doctors who are committed to serving patients and society with dedication and compassion.
He made these remarks during a meeting held at Samatva Bhavan (Chief Minister’s Residence) in Bhopal, where a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed.
MoU Signed to Promote Service-Oriented Healthcare Leadership
In the presence of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, the Madhya Pradesh Health Department signed an MoU with Sevaankur Bharat and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical Foundation, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra).
The agreement, valid for five years, aims to develop Madhya Pradesh as a model state for service-driven healthcare leadership.
Key objectives include:
- Training doctors with a service-first mindset
- Promoting value-based leadership in medical education
- Encouraging experiential and ethical learning
- Strengthening community-focused healthcare delivery
“One Week for the Nation” Training Program
A major feature of the initiative is the “One Week for the Nation” program, under which around 300 participants will receive intensive training in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The program will focus on:
- Hands-on learning experience
- Leadership and personality development
- Continuous engagement through follow-up sessions
- Value-based medical training
Officials said the initiative aims to shape healthcare professionals who contribute beyond clinical practice.
Legacy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical Foundation
The partnering institution, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical Foundation, was established in 1989 by socially committed doctors.
Over the past three decades, it has provided healthcare services to more than 70 lakh underprivileged patients.
The foundation operates multiple healthcare and educational initiatives, including:
- Multi-specialty hospitals in Maharashtra and Assam
- Medical, nursing, and physiotherapy colleges
- Advanced medical facilities including MRI and cath labs
- Blood bank and public health outreach programs
- Rural and slum healthcare initiatives
- Women and child welfare and immunization programs
Its flagship institution, Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, is known for combining medical excellence with a service-driven approach.
Strengthening Healthcare Education and Public Service
The MoU reflects Madhya Pradesh’s broader vision to integrate ethics, service, and leadership into medical education. Officials believe this collaboration will help create a new generation of doctors focused not only on treatment but also on social transformation.
With this agreement, the government of Madhya Pradesh aims to strengthen its healthcare ecosystem by promoting value-based medical education. The initiative is expected to shape a more compassionate, service-oriented healthcare system focused on public welfare and long-term societal impact.
