Wayanad, Kerala: Renowned IAS officer Raju Narayana Swamy (1991:Kerala), widely known as Kerala’s anti-corruption crusader and a firebrand administrator, has called upon students to become a “spiritually grounded, technologically empowered and nationally conscious youth force” capable of driving social transformation from the grassroots to the global stage.
Dr. Swamy was addressing a career guidance programme titled “Empowering Young Minds for a Brighter Future”held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Wayanad.
Vision for a New Generation of Nation Builders
In his keynote address, Dr. Swamy said that today’s students must prepare themselves to become the primary agents of change in Bharat by combining spiritual strength, technological innovation and national commitment.
He outlined a broad mission for young people, urging them to:
- Nurture physical, intellectual and spiritual development
- Apply artificial intelligence and technology to advance social justice
- Address social, environmental and economic challenges
- Promote nationalism as a practical guide for life
- Contribute to building a self-reliant and developed India
According to him, India’s future depends on a generation that can integrate values with innovation and use technology as a force for inclusive progress.
Pancha Dharma: Five Core Values for Youth
Dr. Swamy encouraged students to adopt what he described as the Pancha Dharma—five foundational values that should guide both personal and national development:
- Seva (Service)
- Satya (Truth)
- Shakti (Strength)
- Swaraj (Self-Governance)
- Samriddhi (Prosperity)
He said these principles provide a moral and practical framework for creating responsible citizens and ethical leaders.
Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Nation Building
Highlighting the transformative potential of AI, Dr. Swamy stressed that technology should be used intelligently to solve real-world problems and improve governance.
He cited several practical applications of artificial intelligence, including:
- Vernacular AI chatbots for wider public access
- Smart kiosk inventory management systems
- AI-based health pre-screening tools
- GIS-based hotspot mapping
- Real-time impact dashboards
He noted that such technologies can significantly enhance service delivery, transparency and development outcomes.
Social Transformation from Grassroots to Global Stage
Dr. Swamy said that India’s youth have a unique opportunity to shape the nation’s destiny by combining cultural values with cutting-edge technologies.
He urged students to think beyond personal success and focus on creating solutions that uplift communities, protect the environment and strengthen the country’s economic and social fabric.

About Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy
Dr. Swamy is a senior IAS officer from Kerala, widely respected for his integrity, anti-corruption initiatives and innovative administrative work. Over the years, he has earned a reputation as one of India’s most principled and outspoken bureaucrats.
He secured All India Rank 1 in the 1990 Civil Services Examination and belongs to the 1991 Kerala cadre of the IAS. A graduate in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, he completed his studies with an impressive 9.41 CGPA. Known for his uncompromising administrative style, he has reportedly faced more than 30 transfers during his career in public service.
During his administrative career, Dr Swamy has served as District Collector in five districts and held several key positions, including Director of Fisheries and Principal Secretary. He was honoured with the Satyendra K. Dubey Memorial Award for his integrity in public service. Beyond administration, he is also a prolific author with more than 30 books to his credit and has received recognition from the Kerala Sahitya Akademi for his literary contributions.
