Major Bureaucratic Shake-up In Telangana, IAS Amrapali Katta Made GHMC Commissioner

Recently, the government of Telangana made a significant bureaucratic reshuffle across the state. Rumours of a potential shake-up in the state’s bureaucracy had been making rounds for a long time. The development was announced shortly after the Chief Minister of the state, Mr. A Revanth Reddy, held a series of discussions with the Chief Secretary, Ms. A Santhi Kumari (1989-batch IAS officer). Following a circular issued by the Telangana government on June 24th, as many as 44 top-ranking bureaucrats, including IAS, IPS, and IFS officers, stand transferred and posted.

Mr. Sabyasachi Ghosh (1994-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Principal Secretary to Government (Youth Services), was made Principal Secretary to Government in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fisheries. Mr. Sanjay Kumar (1995-batch IAS officer) was mandated to assume charge as Principal Secretary to the Department of Labour, Employment, Training & Factories. Ms. A Vani Prasad (1989-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Principal Secretary to the Department of Forest, Science & Technology, was made Principal Secretary to the Department of Youth Affairs, Tourism, Culture & Sports.

Ms. Shailaja Ramaiyer (1997-batch IAS officer), was made Principal Secretary to the Department of Endowments and Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts in the Industries & Commerce. Mr. Ahmad Nadeem (1997-batch IAS officer), presently posted as Principal Secretary of the Planning Department, was made Principal Secretary to the Department of Environment, Forest, Science & Technology.

Mr. Sandeep Kumar Sultania (1998-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Principal Secretary of Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, was transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to the Department of Finance. Mr. Syed All Murtaza Rizvi (1999-batch IAS officer), presently posted as Principal Secretary of Energy Department, became the Principal Secretary to the Department of Taxes & Excise.

Mr. C Sudharshan Reddy (2002-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Managing Director (MD) of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Waterh Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), was transferred and posted as a Secretary of General Administration (Services & HRM).

Dr. Jyoti Buddha Prakash (2002-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Transport Commissioner, was posted as Secretary of Registration & Stamps. Ms. Soni Bala Devi (2002-batch IFS officer), presently posted as the Health, Medical & Special Secretary of Family Welfare Department, was made the Managing Director of the Sports Authority of Telangana.

Mr. Ronald Rose (2006-batch IAS officer), the incumbent Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, was posted as Secretary to the Department of Energy. Ms. Amrapali Katta (2010-batch IAS officer) shall replace Officer Rose as the GHMC Commissioner.

Mr. AV Ranganath (2006-batch IPS officer), the incumbent Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Multi-Zone-Hyderabad, was transferred and posted as Commissioner of Enforcement, Vigilance & Disaster Management of the GHMC.
