Kolkata: A fresh political controversy has emerged in West Bengal over the reported temporary disruption of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC)’s operations in the state, as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assured jobs to its employees if required. The development has added to the ongoing political tension ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Confusion Over I-PAC Kolkata Office Operations
The issue began after reports surfaced that I-PAC had sent an internal email to its Kolkata office employees, informing them about a 20-day suspension of West Bengal operations and advising them to proceed on short leave.
However, within a short time, conflicting reports emerged as some statements attributed to Trinamool Congress (TMC) denied any such operational shutdown.
The contradictory information led to widespread confusion regarding the status of I-PAC’s activities in the state.
Mamata Banerjee’s Job Assurance to I-PAC Employees
During an election campaign rally in Tarakeswar, Hooghly district, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that if needed, employees working with I-PAC in Kolkata would be absorbed into the Trinamool Congress.
She assured that jobs would be provided to them and mentioned that she had already discussed the matter with TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
Banerjee also said that no young worker would be left unemployed and reiterated her party’s commitment to employment generation.
Allegations Against BJP and Central Agencies
Mamata Banerjee strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of using pressure tactics during the election period. She alleged that central agencies were being misused to target individuals associated with her party and campaign ecosystem.
She further claimed that frequent raids were being conducted on TMC leaders and individuals linked to her administration, while opposition leaders were being spared.
According to her, these actions were part of a broader political strategy ahead of the elections.
Strong Political Remarks During Rally in Hooghly
Addressing supporters, the Chief Minister also raised concerns about alleged harassment of her security personnel and legal advisors through investigation agencies.
She questioned the selective nature of enforcement actions and accused the opposition of attempting to destabilize the political environment in the state.
Banerjee also referred to past political struggles and asserted confidence in her party’s position in West Bengal.
TMC-I-PAC Association in Focus Ahead of Elections
I-PAC has been working as a political strategy and consultancy partner for the Trinamool Congress for several years, playing a key role in election campaign planning and voter outreach strategies. The latest confusion over its operations has once again brought attention to its role in West Bengal’s political landscape ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Political Tension Intensifies in West Bengal
The developments surrounding I-PAC’s reported operational changes and Mamata Banerjee’s strong political statements have further intensified the pre-election atmosphere in West Bengal. With allegations, counterclaims, and job assurances, the issue has added another layer to the ongoing political contest in the state.
