Shillong: The Meghalaya government has carried out a significant reshuffle in the state police administration, issuing fresh transfer and posting orders for 6 Indian Police Service (IPS) and several Meghalaya Police Service (MPS) officers across key positions in police ranges, district police units, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and battalion commands.
A notification issued on Friday revoked the earlier transfer order of DIG Jerry Fischer K. Marak, 2011 batch IPS officer, who was slated to move from the Western Range in Tura to the Eastern Range in Shillong.
The reshuffle, recommended by the Civil Services Board (CSB), will take immediate effect from the date the officers assume charge.
DIG Jerry Fischer Marak’s Transfer Cancelled
In a notable development, the government withdrew its May 12 order transferring Jerry Fischer K. Marak from his position as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Western Range, Tura, to DIG, Eastern Range, Shillong.

Instead, Sylvester Nongtnger, an IPS officer of 2012 batch, who was serving as DIG (Security), Shillong, has been appointed as the new DIG, Eastern Range, Shillong.
The move effectively allows Marak to continue overseeing policing operations in the Western Range.
Changes in CID and District Police Leadership
The reshuffle has also brought major changes in the Criminal Investigation Department and district police administration.
Shailendra Bamaniya, a 2016 batch IPS officer, who was serving as Superintendent of Police (SP), CID, Shillong, has been transferred and appointed as SP, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat.
He replaces Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, a 2020 batch IPS officer, who has been posted as Commandant, 3rd Meghalaya Police Battalion (MLP), Sahssein.
To fill the vacancy in CID, 2018 batch IPS officer Dr. Dara Aswaghosh, previously serving as SP, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Shillong, has been appointed as the new SP, CID.
Meanwhile, Ashish, an IPS officer of 2021 batch, who was serving as SP, VIS, Shillong, has been transferred as SP, SCRB.
New Posting in VIS Wing
Nazarius Lamare, MPS, who was serving as Commandant of the 3rd MLP Battalion, Sahssein, has been appointed as SP, VIS, Shillong.
The posting places him in charge of an important operational wing within the state police establishment.
Changes at Battalion and Additional SP Level
The state government has also made several transfers involving deputy commandants and additional superintendents of police.
Narender, IPS, who was serving as Additional SP, CBPS, Eastern Range, has been posted as Deputy Commandant, 6th MLP Battalion, Umran.
Replacing him is Neena Rabha, MPS, who was previously serving as Deputy Commandant, 6th MLP Battalion and will now take over as Additional SP, CBPS, Eastern Range.
East Garo Hills Gets New Additional SP
Anthony Ch. Momin, MPS, serving as Additional SP, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar, has been transferred and appointed as Deputy Commandant, 4th MLP Battalion, Sohpian, Nongstoin.
In his place, Krison R. Marak, MPS, has been posted as the new Additional SP, East Garo Hills.
DSP-Level Transfers Announced
The reshuffle also includes changes at the Deputy Superintendent of Police level.
John Clitzer A. Sangma, MPS, who was serving as DSP (HQ), North Garo Hills, Resubelpara, has been transferred and posted as DSP (HQ), East Garo Hills, Williamnagar.
He effectively swaps positions with Subir Sangma, MPS, who moves in the opposite direction.
Assistant Commandant Shifted
In another administrative change, Gobind Kumar Chetri, MPS, serving as Assistant Commandant, 5th MLP Battalion, Samanda, has been transferred and posted as Assistant Commandant, 6th MLP Battalion, Umranagainst an existing vacancy.
Government Says Orders Effective Immediately
The Meghalaya government stated that all transfers and postings will come into force from the date the respective officers assume charge of their new assignments and will remain effective until further orders.
The latest reshuffle is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, improving police administration and ensuring effective deployment of senior officers across the state’s policing structure.
