Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has carried out a major police reshuffle, appointing 1996-batch IPS officer M K Sinha as the new intelligence chief. He will serve as Additional Director General (ADG) of the J&K Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Sinha replaces Nitish Kumar, who has been transferred as ADG, Armed Police.
New Police Chiefs for Kashmir and Jammu
The reshuffle also changes the leadership of the Kashmir and Jammu police zones.
Sujit Kumar, a 2007-batch IPS officer, has been appointed IGP Kashmir, replacing V K Birdi, who has gone on central deputation. Kumar has earlier served as DIG Central Kashmir and DIG CID.
Tejinder Singh, a 2008-batch IPS officer and currently IG CID, will take charge as IGP Jammu. He replaces Bhim Sen Tuti, who has been posted as IG Headquarters.
Other changes include Uttam Chand’s appointment as IGP Railways and Vivek Gupta’s posting as IGP Security. Shakti Kumar Pathak, a 2009-batch IPS officer, has been designated Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Who Is M K Sinha?
M K Sinha is a 1996-batch IPS officer of the J&K cadre. Before his latest appointment, he was serving as ADG (Headquarters).
He earlier served as IGP Jammu in 2018 and held several key positions, including SDPO Samba, SSP Border Jammu, SSP Rajouri, SSP Vigilance Jammu and SSP Kathua.
Sinha also served on deputation with the Cabinet Secretariat and the CBI, where he supervised high-profile investigations, including the Vyapam probe.
The latest reshuffle brings new leadership to several important police units and zones in Jammu and Kashmir.
