Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inspected the ongoing restoration work of the historic Ahilya Kund in Indore district under the “Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan.” During the visit, he also performed traditional rituals and offered prayers at the site.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the revival of traditional water structures is a key step toward strengthening water conservation efforts across the state.
Water is Life, Not Just a Natural Resource
Addressing villagers and local stakeholders, CM Dr. Yadav called for transforming water conservation into a public movement driven by community participation.
He stated that water is not merely a natural resource but the foundation of life itself. Protecting and conserving water today, he said, ensures a secure future for coming generations.
Cultural Values and Inspiration from Saints
Highlighting India’s cultural heritage, the Chief Minister referred to the teachings of saints Kabir and Rahim, using their couplets to explain the importance of water conservation in a simple and inspiring way.
He noted that Indian traditions have always regarded water as a symbol of life, compassion, and prosperity.
Focus on Rainwater Harvesting and Revival of Traditional Water Bodies
CM Dr. Yadav urged villagers to actively participate in:
- Rainwater harvesting practices
- Restoration and protection of ponds and stepwells
- Responsible and mindful use of water resources
He further said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen water conservation systems through large-scale initiatives like the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, which focuses on reviving traditional water sources.
Government Commitment and Public Participation
The Chief Minister stressed that public participation is essential for the success of water conservation efforts. He expressed confidence that collective action would help Madhya Pradesh emerge as a water-secure and water-rich state in the future.

Several senior leaders and officials were present during the inspection, including Water Resources Minister Tulsi Ram Silawat, Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani, MLAs Golu Shukla, Gaurav Randive, and Shravan Singh Chawda.
Senior administrative and police officials also attended the event, including Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh, IG Anurag, Collector Shivam Verma, CEO of District Panchayat Siddharth Jain, DIG Manoj Kumar Singh, and Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rajendra Verma, among others.
