The government also said that over ₹10,000 crore has been spent on these projects aimed at strengthening water resources and improving groundwater levels.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that the state is committed to the principle of “water is life” and continues to prioritise long-term water management and conservation efforts.
Massive Investment in Water Conservation Infrastructure
According to the state government, the campaign has led to large-scale development work focused on improving water availability and storage capacity.
- Over 2 lakh water conservation and harvesting works completed
- Total investment exceeding ₹10,000 crore
- Focus on rejuvenation of water sources and storage enhancement
- Strengthening both rural and urban water infrastructure
These initiatives are aimed at addressing long-standing challenges such as water scarcity and declining groundwater levels in several regions of Madhya Pradesh.
Focus on Groundwater Recharge and Water Security
The government stated that the campaign places strong emphasis on improving groundwater recharge and protecting natural water bodies. Activities under the scheme include restoration of ponds, lakes, rivers, and other local water sources.
Officials highlighted that rising water stress has made conservation efforts essential for ensuring long-term water security across the state.
Community Participation and Local Engagement
A key feature of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan has been increased public participation. The government has encouraged local communities to actively take part in water conservation efforts.
This participatory approach is aimed at making water management more sustainable and community-driven, especially in rural areas where water dependency is high.
Long-Term Vision for Sustainable Water Management
The Madhya Pradesh government has launched several environmental and water conservation initiatives in recent years. Officials believe that sustained efforts in water resource management will benefit both rural and urban populations.
The administration reiterated that long-term planning, combined with community involvement, is essential to tackle future water challenges and ensure balanced ecological development across the state.
