Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is set to lay the foundation stone for a ₹2,500 crore defence manufacturing plant being developed by the Adani Group in Shivpuri on July 5. The project is expected to strengthen the state’s industrial base while creating employment opportunities and supporting India’s push towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, will join the Chief Minister during the foundation stone ceremony.
Defence Project to Strengthen Industrial Growth
The upcoming defence manufacturing facility is expected to become a major industrial investment in the region. The project aligns with the Centre’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India‘ initiatives, which seek to expand domestic manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on imports in the defence sector.
Besides enhancing Madhya Pradesh’s industrial infrastructure, the plant is expected to attract further investments in allied sectors.
Employment and MSMEs Expected to Benefit
The proposed manufacturing unit is likely to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities for local residents. The project is also expected to create business prospects for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), enabling them to participate in the defence manufacturing supply chain.
Officials believe the investment will encourage the growth of supporting industries and strengthen the local economy over the coming years.
Development Projects Worth ₹211 Crore Also on Agenda
Along with the foundation stone ceremony for the defence plant, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects valued at ₹211.29 crore in Shivpuri.
The projects are aimed at improving public infrastructure and accelerating the district’s overall development alongside the proposed industrial investment.
