A week-long National Level Training Program for Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers was inaugurated today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The program is being organized by the School of Business, Faculty of Management, SMVDU, and has drawn participation from IFS officers across the country.
Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU and the Chief Guest for the event, emphasized the significance of such training programs in her inaugural address. She highlighted that these initiatives benefit both trainees and trainers, fostering enhanced learning outcomes.
B.K. Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Jammu & Kashmir, and the Guest of Honor spoke about the rich biodiversity of the Union Territory and the steps being taken by the Department to conserve wildlife while promoting eco-tourism, especially in light of increasing technology-driven urban development.
Prof. Jyoti Sharma, Program Coordinator, stressed the importance of equipping officials with effective decision-making strategies for smoother workplace operations. Prof. Ashutosh Vashishta, Dean of the Faculty of Management, discussed SMVDU’s focus on quality and fostering a positive work culture across all levels of the university.
The training program has attracted IFS officers from various states, including Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
