New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited has appointed Mr. Satyan Kumar as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), effective May 27, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen strategic leadership and accelerate its energy transition initiatives.
The appointment has been approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and cleared by the company’s Board in compliance with SEBI regulations.
Tenure and Official Appointment Details
Mr. Satyan Kumar will serve in the role until November 30, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The company confirmed that he is not debarred from holding office by any regulatory authority or SEBI order, and his appointment complies with the SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015.
Over 36 Years of Experience Across Energy Value Chain
Satyan Kumar brings more than 36 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, covering:
- Upstream operations
- Midstream infrastructure
- Petrochemicals
- Corporate strategy
- Renewable energy development
He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Dayalbagh Educational Institution, Agra, a PGDM from MDI Gurgaon, and advanced leadership training from ESCP-EAP, France. He also participated in the Government of India’s DAKSH leadership programme.
Key Leadership Roles in ONGC Group
Before his elevation, Kumar served as Executive Director – Chief Corporate Strategy at ONGC, where he helped shape the company’s long-term roadmap.
He has also served on the boards of several group companies, including:
- ONGC Tripura Power Company
- ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited
- OGL One Ltd.
- Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd.
His work has focused on expanding investments in solar, wind, and biofuel projects.
Major Projects in Energy and Infrastructure
During his career, he has led several key initiatives, including:
- Captive power plants at Uran, OPaL, and Hazira
- 103-km Hazira–Dahej naphtha pipeline
- ONGC’s first 15 MW utility-scale solar power project
He has also played a significant role in expanding ONGC’s renewable energy footprint in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In his new role, Satyan Kumar will be responsible for driving ONGC’s strategic initiatives, including:
- Energy transition planning
- Expansion into renewable energy
- LNG and petrochemical diversification
- Corporate strategy execution
