Union Minister of State for Personnel, Mr. Jitendra Singh, informed the Rajya Sabha today that there are 1,316 IAS and 586 IPS officer vacancies, as of January 1st, 2024. Similarly, the Indian Forest Service (IFS) has 1,042 vacant positions.

The recruitment of these officers is conducted through the annual Civil Services Examination (CSE) by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
