Gandhinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the newly developed Jedwa Lake at Vadsar in Gandhinagar district, Gujarat, during his two-day visit to the state. The event was also attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The inauguration of Jedwa Lake is part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance urban infrastructure and public recreational spaces in Gujarat.

The lake development is expected to benefit residents of Vadsar and surrounding areas in Gandhinagar district.
Security Review: Border Outpost Inspection and Surveillance Systems
During his visit, Amit Shah also inspected the Border Outpost at Harami Nala, reviewing operational readiness and security arrangements.
He further examined live feeds from Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) surveillance cameras in the control room, focusing on:
- Border security preparedness
- Real-time monitoring systems
- Technological upgrades in surveillance infrastructure
The review forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s border management systems.

Maharashtra CM Meets Amit Shah on Farmer and Cooperative Issues
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss issues related to:
- Sugar cooperative sector
- Onion farmers
- Agricultural pricing and procurement policies
Following the meeting, Fadnavis stated that constructive discussions were held on key agricultural concerns.
Key Proposals: Sugar Industry and Ethanol Policy
During the meeting, discussions focused on improving the sugar sector’s financial stability. Key proposals included:
- Increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP)
- Raising ethanol production quota
- Loan restructuring for sugar mills
Fadnavis noted that these measures could help stabilize sugar mill operations and support the cooperative sector.
Relief Measures for Onion Farmers Under Consideration
On the issue of onion farmers, the Maharashtra government requested the Centre to:
- Increase NAFED procurement from 2 lakh tonnes to 10 lakh tonnes
- Ensure better price stability for farmers
The procurement price for onions has already been raised to ₹15.80 per kg, with further discussions underway to provide additional support amid fluctuating market prices.
The developments highlight simultaneous efforts on infrastructure expansion in Gujarat and agricultural policy support discussions at the national level.
