Indian Masterminds Stories

Lucknow: Priyanka Chaudhary from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district has scripted an inspiring success story by securing All India Rank (AIR) 79 in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The daughter of a government chauffeur, Priyanka’s achievement has brought immense pride to her family and village, turning years of struggle, perseverance, and shared dreams into a moment of celebration.

Her father, Neera Ram, who has spent more than 25 years driving senior government officials, expressed deep pride and emotion at his daughter’s achievement, saying it would be an honour for him to drive her vehicle someday.

A Father’s Pride

Neera Ram has been working as a government chauffeur for over a quarter century, transporting senior officials to their destinations as part of his duty.

Speaking about his daughter’s achievement, Ram said with emotion, “It will be an honour to drive my daughter’s vehicle.”

For Ram, who started his career as a Class-IV employee in 1997, Priyanka’s success marks the fulfilment of a dream that the entire family nurtured over the years.

Celebrations in Gaura Khas Village

Priyanka’s success has triggered celebrations in Gaura Khas village in Jakhania area of Ghazipur district. Since the UPSC results were announced, relatives, neighbours, and well-wishers have been visiting the family home to congratulate them.

The continuous flow of greetings reflects the pride felt by the entire community at the remarkable achievement of a young woman who rose from modest beginnings to secure a place among India’s top civil service candidates.

A Journey Marked by Personal Loss

While the family is celebrating the achievement, the journey has also been marked by deep personal losses.

Priyanka’s elder sister Priti said that the family lost their brother Ritesh and their mother Shanti Devi in the past year, making the success bittersweet.

“Before Priyanka made the family’s dream come true, we lost our only brother Ritesh and our mother Shanti Devi,” Priti said.

The family says the absence of their mother and brother is strongly felt during this moment of joy.

Academic Excellence Since Childhood

According to her sister Priti, Priyanka has always been an exceptional student.

“Priyanka was a standout student since childhood,” she said, adding that her sister consistently performed well in academics and remained focused on her goals.

Priti herself has also cleared government recruitment examinations for teachers, reflecting the family’s strong emphasis on education.

BHU Alumna with Earlier Government Job

Priyanka Chaudhary is an alumna of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Even before cracking the UPSC examination, she had already secured a government job.

In December last year, she qualified as a GST Inspector and had already begun her training when the UPSC Civil Services Examination results were announced.

Her success in the UPSC exam therefore represents another major milestone in her academic and professional journey.

Quiet Return to Her Village

After the UPSC results were declared, Priyanka called her family on Saturday to share the news of her success.

She reached her village on Sunday, where villagers and relatives gave her a grand welcome.

Despite the celebration and admiration surrounding her achievement, Priyanka chose not to speak publicly about her success.

Her sister explained that the family’s recent losses may have influenced her decision to remain reserved during the celebrations.

“All of us missed our mother and brother,” Priti said, explaining the emotional atmosphere surrounding the achievement.

UPSC Civil Services Examination

The Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC is considered one of the toughest competitive exams in India.

The exam is held in three stages:

• Preliminary Examination

• Main Examination

• Personality Test (Interview)

Successful candidates are selected for prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Every year, lakhs of aspirants appear for the examination, but only a small number make it to the final merit list.

An Inspiration for Aspirants

Priyanka Chaudhary’s success story stands as an inspiration for aspirants across the country, particularly those from modest backgrounds.

Her journey demonstrates how determination, academic excellence, and family support can help overcome challenges and achieve remarkable goals.

For her father Neera Ram, who spent decades driving government officials, the moment symbolizes a powerful transformation — from driving officers to possibly one day driving the vehicle of his own daughter, a civil servant.
