Chandigarh: The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government on Tuesday carried out a significant administrative reshuffle, issuing transfer and posting orders for eight officers, including two IAS, three IPS, and three PPS officers.
The reshuffle primarily impacts key positions in the state police administration across multiple districts.
Major IPS Transfers in Police Administration
Among the IPS officers transferred:
- Sartaj Singh Chahal (IPS: 2015 batch, Punjab cadre), SSP Sangrur, has been posted as SSP Moga
- Ravjot Grewal (IPS: 2015 batch, Punjab cadre), Joint Director (Administration), Vigilance Bureau, has been appointed as SSP Sangrur
- Ajay Gandhi (IPS: 2018 batch, Punjab cadre), SSP Moga, has been transferred as AIG Provisioning
These changes reflect key leadership shifts in district policing and administrative coordination.

PPS Officers Also Transferred Across Districts
In the Punjab Police Service (PPS) cadre, the following transfers were ordered:
- Gagan Ajit Singh, SSP Malerkotla, has been posted as SSP Fazilka
- Gurmit Singh, SSP Fazilka, has been transferred as SSP Malerkotla
- Sikhnaz Singh (PPS), earlier posted as SP Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), SAS Nagar, has been transferred again and his services placed at the disposal of the Vigilance Bureau
The reshuffle includes key SSP-level postings impacting district-level policing across Punjab.
Focus on Administrative Rebalancing
The reshuffle is seen as part of routine administrative rebalancing aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening law enforcement, and ensuring better coordination across districts.
Such transfers are periodically undertaken by the state government to optimize policing performance and address administrative requirements.
