Khatima: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sent a strong message in support of natural and organic farming by personally operating a tiller and cultivating land at his private residence farm in Nagla Tarai, Khatima. During the visit, he also applied cow dung-based organic manure to the soil, emphasizing the importance of traditional and chemical-free agricultural practices.

His initiative highlighted the state government’s push toward sustainable agriculture and farmer empowerment through eco-friendly methods.

CM Highlights Benefits of Organic and Natural Farming

While working in the field, the Chief Minister underlined that natural farming practices—especially the use of cow dung manure—play a vital role in improving soil fertility and protecting the environment.

He urged farmers across Uttarakhand to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and gradually shift toward organic and natural farming techniques. According to him, such practices not only improve long-term soil health but also contribute to environmental conservation.

Focus on Farmer Income and Agricultural Modernization

CM Dhami stated that the state government is continuously working to increase farmers’ income, modernize agriculture, and promote organic produce markets.

He added that combining traditional farming knowledge with modern agricultural technology can make farming more sustainable and economically viable. The government, he said, is actively supporting farmers through multiple schemes focused on:

  • Organic farming promotion
  • Horticulture development
  • Support for local agricultural products
  • Sustainable rural livelihoods

Strengthening Rural Economy and Agricultural Heritage

The Chief Minister emphasized that Uttarakhand’s identity is deeply rooted in agriculture, rural culture, and natural ecosystems. Strengthening these sectors, he said, is essential for balanced development in the state.

He also called for greater involvement of the younger generation in agriculture and rural development, noting that their participation is crucial for the future of farming and rural economy.

Family Support and Traditional Values in Agriculture

During the farm activity, CM Dhami was accompanied by his mother, Bishna Devi. Their presence underscored the cultural and familial connection to agriculture and traditional farming values.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that farming is not merely a source of livelihood but an integral part of Indian culture and rural life.

Push Toward Sustainable Agricultural Future

Through this symbolic yet practical initiative at his private farm in Nagla Tarai, Khatima, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami reinforced the message of sustainable and organic agriculture. His actions reflect the state government’s broader vision of promoting environmentally responsible farming practices while strengthening rural livelihoods and agricultural heritage in Uttarakhand.
