New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) worth ₹903.01 crore, including GST, from SJVN Thermal Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited, for railway infrastructure works at the Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) in Bihar.
The order covers construction of a permanent railway siding along with an aerial track connection from the plant boundary to Chausa and Pawani Kamarpur at Buxar. The project is part of Phase-III of the infrastructure support for the 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project.
RVNL Receives ₹903 Crore Order from SJVN Thermal
Under the newly awarded contract, RVNL will undertake the construction of key railway connectivity infrastructure required for the Buxar Thermal Power Project.

Project to Improve Rail Connectivity for Buxar Thermal Power Plant
The work involves developing a permanent railway siding and an aerial track connection from the plant boundary towards Chausa and Pawani Kamarpur.
The infrastructure is expected to strengthen rail connectivity associated with the Buxar Thermal Power Project and support the movement of materials and other logistics linked to the large-scale power facility.
The project forms Phase-III of infrastructure support for the 1,320 MW BTPP.
RVNL Order Not a Related-Party Transaction
RVNL, in its regulatory disclosure, clarified that the company’s promoter or promoter group has no interest in SJVN Thermal Private Limited, the entity awarding the contract.
The company also confirmed that the transaction does not fall under related-party transactions.
The disclosure was made to the stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations.
RVNL Reports 18.46% Rise in Q1 FY27 Net Profit
The order comes as RVNL continues to expand its portfolio of railway and infrastructure projects across India.
As of June 2026, the Government of India held a 72.84% stake in RVNL.
The company reported strong financial performance in the first quarter of FY2026-27:
- Consolidated net profit: ₹159.36 crore
- Net profit growth: 18.46% year-on-year
- Revenue from operations: ₹4,321.23 crore
- Revenue growth: 10.55% year-on-year
RVNL Shares Rise After Order Announcement
Following the order announcement, RVNL shares gained 1.19% to settle at ₹212 on the BSE.
The ₹903.01 crore order adds to the company’s project pipeline and strengthens its presence in railway infrastructure development associated with major power projects.
