New Delhi: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and GIZ, Germany, organised an interactive workshop with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to promote industrial decarbonisation and support India’s transition towards low-carbon industries.
The workshop was conducted under the India-Sweden partnership through the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), focusing on green skilling, technology solutions and sustainability strategies for Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).
The programme brought together around 40 senior officials from various PSEs to discuss pathways for achieving climate-resilient industrial growth.
Workshop Focuses on Industrial Decarbonisation and Net-Zero Goals
The workshop aimed to strengthen awareness and knowledge-sharing among Indian public sector organisations regarding industrial decarbonisation strategies.
Key discussion areas included:
- Low-carbon industrial transformation.

- Net-zero pathways for industries.
- Sustainable energy practices.
- Climate-resilient industrial development.
Technical sessions were led by officials from MoEFCC and the LeadIT Secretariat, focusing on practical solutions to help Indian PSEs accelerate their transition towards cleaner operations.

Senior representatives from MoEFCC, GIZ, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Volvo participated in the workshop and shared their expertise on sustainable industrial practices.

- Transport sector decarbonisation.
Volvo shared insights into technological pathways for reducing emissions in the transport sector and highlighted approaches for sustainable mobility.

A major highlight of the workshop was the sustainability exchange visit to BEL, where participants observed practical applications of green technologies and sustainability measures.
During the visit, officials explored:
- BEL’s net-zero roadmap.
- Renewable energy initiatives.
- Resource optimisation practices.
- Climate-friendly industrial solutions.
Participants also visited BEL’s rejuvenated Doddabommasandra Lake, which showcased successful efforts in:
- Water conservation.
- Biodiversity restoration.
- Environmental improvement.
The lake restoration project was presented as an example of how industries can contribute to ecological conservation while pursuing sustainability goals.
India-Sweden LeadIT Partnership Supports Green Industrial Transition
The workshop was organised under the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) initiative, a global platform focused on accelerating industrial decarbonisation.
The India-Sweden partnership through LeadIT supports collaboration on:
- Clean technologies.
- Industrial emission reduction.
- Sustainable manufacturing practices.
- Knowledge exchange between stakeholders.
The initiative aims to help industries adopt innovative solutions and move towards net-zero targets.
SCOPE Continues Focus on Green Skilling and Climate Action
