Initiative to Encourage Sikh Youth
In a press statement, Advocate Dhami said the SGPC is making dedicated efforts to encourage Sikh youth to join high administrative services through competitive examinations.
He said the decision to honour UPSC achievers is aimed not only at boosting their morale but also at motivating other Sikh students to pursue careers in administration and public service.
Support Through Education and Coaching
Dhami highlighted that SGPC already provides annual financial assistance to Amritdhari students, free education to Amritdhari girls and economically weaker students.
He added that the SGPC has also set up arrangements to prepare Sikh youth for administrative and judicial services through Nishchay Academy.
₹5 Crore Reserved for UPSC Mains Preparation
To further support aspirants, the SGPC has reserved ₹5 crore in its budget for the preparation of Gursikh students who have cleared the UPSC preliminary examination and are preparing for the Mains.
This financial backing is expected to strengthen the prospects of Sikh candidates in one of India’s toughest competitive exams.
UPSC Toppers to Inspire Aspirants
Advocate Dhami said that in the future, the SGPC will formulate a programme to connect Sikh students who have cleared UPSC with aspirants studying at Nishchay Academy.
This initiative will allow successful candidates to share their experiences and inspire those preparing for competitive examinations.
Appeal to Sikh Families
The SGPC President appealed to Sikh families to encourage their children to prepare for competitive exams so that Sikh youth can attain high positions and serve humanity in line with the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
The move is being seen as a major step by the SGPC to promote representation of Sikh youth in India’s civil services and other prestigious administrative roles.
