In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government on Friday transferred and posted more than 30 IAS officers across various departments, public sector undertakings, and statutory bodies, aiming to strengthen administrative efficiency and governance delivery.
Among the most notable appointments, Pooja Kulkarni, who was serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board (TNIDB), has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise.

Key Appointments in the Reshuffle
The large-scale administrative exercise saw several officers moved to strategic positions across the state administration.
MS Prasath, Collector of Kallakurichi district, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Secretary to Government in the Finance Department.
Senior IAS officer Mangat Ram Sharma has been posted to the Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, while J Jayakanthan has been placed at the disposal of the Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Limited.
E Saravanavelraj has been appointed to Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited (TAMIN), a key state-owned mining enterprise, while PN Sridhar has been posted to the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation, reflecting the state’s growing focus on renewable energy and sustainable development.
Urban Development and Infrastructure Get Fresh Leadership
The reshuffle also includes important appointments in urban planning and environmental restoration institutions.
SP Karthikaa has been posted to the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), one of the state’s most influential urban planning agencies.
Simranjeet Singh Kahlon has been assigned to the Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust (CRRT), an organization at the forefront of river rejuvenation and environmental conservation initiatives in the Chennai metropolitan region.
Administrative Recalibration
Large-scale bureaucratic reshuffles are routinely undertaken by state governments to align administrative priorities with governance objectives, bring fresh perspectives to key departments, and ensure effective implementation of developmental programmes.
The latest exercise reflects Tamil Nadu’s continued emphasis on infrastructure development, urban governance, energy transition, public finance management, and environmental restoration through strategic deployment of senior civil servants.
