Ujjain: A portion of the Shahi Masjid at Chhatri Chowk in Ujjain is being removed voluntarily by members of the community as part of ongoing road-widening work ahead of the Simhastha 2028 preparations, Ujjain Collector Roshan Singh said.
According to the Collector, construction and road-widening works are being undertaken in the city as part of preparations for the large number of devotees expected during the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh.
Collector Appeals Against Rumours
Roshan Singh said the road-widening work is being carried out in accordance with the master plan and that people from different communities have been coming forward to contribute to the development work.

He said houses and religious structures falling within the areas affected by the ongoing work are being removed voluntarily by their respective communities. The Collector said the removal of a portion of the Shahi Masjid at Chhatri Chowk was part of this process.
The Collector appealed to people not to pay attention to rumours and urged them to maintain peace.
City Qazi Says Matter Resolved Amicably
Ujjain City Qazi Khali Qurre Rahman also appealed to people not to believe rumours regarding the mosque.
He said the matter concerning the mosque had been resolved through mutual understanding during the night and that there was no situation requiring people to visit the site.
The Qazi urged people not to leave their homes unnecessarily or gather at the location because of rumours, and said the agreed work was being carried out.
