UP Transfers 15 IPS Officers; Tarun Gaba Named Lucknow CP, Piyush Mordia Takes Charge in Prayagraj

The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 15 IPS officers in a major administrative reshuffle, appointing new Police Commissioners for Lucknow and Prayagraj while making significant changes in Intelligence, Home, Fire Services and other key police establishments.

Lucknow: In a major reshuffle of the state’s police leadership, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday transferred 15 IPS officers, appointing new Commissioners of Police for Lucknow and Prayagraj, besides making significant changes in the Intelligence, Home, Fire Services, Anti-Corruption Organisation and several other key police establishments.

The reshuffle includes appointments at the levels of Director General (DG), Additional Director General (ADG), Inspector General (IG) and Superintendent of Police (SP).

New Police Commissioners for Lucknow and Prayagraj

Among the most significant changes, Amrendra K. Sengar (IPS:1995) has been moved from Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, and appointed Director General (DG), Intelligence, with additional charge of DG, Security.

He will be succeeded by Tarun Gaba (IPS:2001), who has been shifted from ADG, Security to take over as the new Commissioner of Police, Lucknow.

Similarly, Piyush Mordia (IPS:1998) has been transferred from ADG, Varanasi Zone and appointed as the new Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj.

The outgoing Prayagraj Police Commissioner, Jogendra Kumar (IPS:2007), has been posted as IG, Police Training College (PTC), Moradabad.

Home Department and Intelligence See Key Changes

In another important move, Anand Sureshrao Kulkarni (IPS:2008) has been appointed Secretary (Home), Uttar Pradesh after serving as IG, Anti-Corruption Organisation.

The incumbent Secretary (Home), Mohit Gupta (IPS:2006), has been transferred as IG, Anti-Corruption Organisation, Lucknow.

The reshuffle also includes Bhagwan S. Srivastava (IPS:1998), who moves from ADG, Intelligence to ADG, Technical Services.

Fire Services and Zonal Changes

The government has also made changes in senior police leadership across important zones.

M. Ashok Jain (IPS:1995), serving as DG/ADG, Gorakhpur Zone, has been posted as DG, Fire and Emergency Services, Police Headquarters, Lucknow.

Replacing him, Ram Kumar (IPS:1995) has been shifted from ADG, Logistics to ADG, Gorakhpur Zone.

Meanwhile, Naveen Arora (IPS:1997) has been transferred from ADG, Technical Services to ADG, Varanasi Zone.

Additional Responsibilities Assigned

The government has entrusted Dr. Sanjeev Gupta (IPS:1999), who is currently serving as ADG, Police Headquarters, with the additional charge of ADG, Logistics.

Further, Dharmvir (IPS:2002) has been shifted from IG, Home Guards, Lucknow, to IG, PAC East Zone, Prayagraj.

Other Important Transfers

The reshuffle also includes changes in specialised police units.

Vinod Kumar Singh (IPS:2007) has been transferred from IG, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad, to IG, Special Investigation.

At the SP level:

  • Anup Kumar Singh (IPS:2014), attached to the DGP Headquarters, has been posted as SP, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Lucknow.
  • Anand Kumar (IPS:2015), also attached to the DGP Headquarters, has been posted as SP, Public Grievances, DGP Headquarters, Lucknow.

  • Bhagwan S. Srivastava (IPS:1998): Shifted from ADG, Intelligence, Lucknow to ADG, Technical Services, Lucknow.
  • Dr. Sanjeev Gupta (IPS:1999): Continues as ADG, Police Headquarters, Lucknow and has been given additional charge of ADG, Logistics.
  • Tarun Gaba (IPS:2001): Transferred from ADG, Security, Lucknow to Commissioner of Police, Lucknow.
  • Dharmvir (IPS:2002): Moved from IG, Home Guards, Lucknow to IG, PAC East Zone, Prayagraj.
  • Mohit Gupta (IPS:2006): Transferred from Secretary (Home), Lucknow to IG, Anti-Corruption Organisation, Lucknow.
  • Vinod Kumar Singh (IPS:2007): Shifted from IG, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad to IG, Special Investigation.
  • Jogendra Kumar (IPS:2007): Transferred from Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj to IG, Police Training College (PTC), Moradabad.
  • Anand Sureshrao Kulkarni (IPS:2008): Moved from IG, Anti-Corruption Organisation, Lucknow to Secretary (Home), Uttar Pradesh.
  • Anup Kumar Singh (IPS:2014): Transferred from attachment at DGP Headquarters to SP, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Lucknow.
  • Anand Kumar (IPS:2015): Transferred from attachment at DGP Headquarters to SP, Public Grievances, DGP Headquarters, Lucknow.

The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening the state’s policing and administrative framework through strategic redeployment of senior officers across key operational, intelligence and administrative positions.
