Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has announced a major skill development initiative to provide free professional training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), emerging technologies, and digital skills to more than 1.5 lakh youths across the state.
The initiative has been launched through a partnership between the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) and the IBM Skill Foundation (OneMOneB-IBM), aiming to prepare young people for future job markets and improve employability in high-demand technology sectors.
MoU Signed to Strengthen Skill Development Ecosystem
The agreement between UPSDM and IBM Skill Foundation was formalized to expand access to modern technology training across Uttar Pradesh.
Under the MoU:
- Over 1.5 lakh youth will be trained
- Training will be conducted across 1,000 skill development centers
- Focus will be on job-oriented digital education
Mission officials said the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between industry demand and workforce readiness.

Training in AI, Emerging Technologies and Green Skills
The program will offer structured training modules in:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Emerging technologies
- Digital and IT skills
- Green skills for sustainable industries
Participants will also receive guidance on industry practices, career opportunities, and workplace expectations.
Job Fairs and Placement Support for Trained Youth
According to Mission Director Pulkit Khare, students completing the training will be connected to employment opportunities through:
- Mega job fairs
- Placement drives
- Direct recruitment opportunities with reputed companies
The program will also include interview preparation, communication skills training, and personality development sessions to enhance employability.
1,000 Training Centres to Implement the Program
The initiative will be rolled out across more than 1,000 skill development centres in Uttar Pradesh, ensuring wide accessibility for rural and urban youth.
These centres will act as hubs for:
- Digital skill training
- Industry-oriented learning
- Career counselling and placement support
Focus on Future-Ready Workforce Development
Officials emphasized that the initiative is designed to align Uttar Pradesh’s workforce with global technological trends.
Key objectives include:
- Preparing youth for AI-driven job markets
- Enhancing digital literacy and technical expertise
- Increasing employment opportunities in IT and emerging sectors
The program is expected to significantly boost youth participation in the technology-driven economy.
AI for Governance and Public Service Workshop
On the occasion of the MoU signing, a special workshop titled “AI for Public Service and Good Governance” was also held at the mission headquarters.
The session focused on:
- Practical applications of AI in governance
- Improving efficiency in government services
- Capacity building of officials and staff
Senior officials, including Additional Mission Director Pooja Mishra, Joint Director Mayank Gangwar, Assistant Directors M.K. Singh and Pavitra Tandon, along with other staff members, attended the workshop.
The collaboration between UPSDM and IBM Skill Foundation marks a significant step in Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to build a future-ready workforce. By offering free AI and digital skills training to over 1.5 lakh youth, followed by structured placement support, the initiative aims to strengthen employability and bridge the gap between education and industry demand.
