Uttarakhand CM Dhami Announces ₹2 Crore Aid for Param Vir Chakra Winners, Approves ₹62 Crore Development Projects

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has increased the ex-gratia amount given to Param Vir Chakra award-winning soldiers from ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the decision in Dehradun, stating that the government is fully committed to honouring the bravery, sacrifice and contribution of the armed forces.

Along with this announcement, the Chief Minister has approved development projects worth more than ₹62 crore across the state, covering infrastructure development, religious tourism, Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations, education support for children of ex-servicemen and public service initiatives.

Param Vir Chakra Awardees to Receive ₹2 Crore Financial Assistance

Chief Minister Dhami said that soldiers honoured with the Param Vir Chakra represent the highest level of courage and dedication towards the nation. The increase in financial assistance reflects the state government’s respect and commitment towards the armed forces.

He added that the welfare of soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families remains one of the government’s key priorities.

₹6.62 Crore Approved for Sewer Treatment Plant in Dehradun

The Chief Minister approved ₹6.62 crore for the purchase of land required for the construction of an 8 MLD sewer treatment plant at Tapkeshwar Mahadev Garhi Dakra Cantonment area in Dehradun.

The project is expected to strengthen sanitation infrastructure and improve urban facilities in the region.

₹41.37 Crore Sanctioned for NABARD-Funded Development Projects

CM Dhami approved a total financial allocation of ₹41.37 crore for 21 projects funded through NABARD in Uttarakhand.

These projects will support development activities and improve infrastructure facilities across various areas of the state.


Funds Approved for Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027 Preparations

The Uttarakhand government has started preparations for the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027.

The Chief Minister approved:

  • ₹5.46 crore for bamboo barricading, crowd control barriers, temporary fire watch towers and related arrangements.
  • ₹6.85 crore for the construction of eight temporary shelters and other facilities for visitors.

The approved works aim to ensure better arrangements and safety facilities for devotees during the major religious event.

Development Projects Approved in Almora and Pithoragarh

The Chief Minister approved several development works related to religious and public infrastructure in Almora and Pithoragarh districts.

Projects in Almora

  • ₹124.73 lakh approved for completing the remaining renovation work of Sukeshwar Mahadev Temple from Sakuni village in Dwarahat block.
  • The first instalment of ₹74.83 lakh has also been approved.
  • ₹72.83 lakh sanctioned for the construction of a dharamshala at Maa Mangla Bhagwati Mata Temple premises in Seraghat.
  • The first instalment of ₹43.69 lakh has been approved for the project.

Project in Pithoragarh

  • ₹22 lakh approved for beautification work, wall construction and dharamshala development at Budheshwar Temple in Bhouri village under Munnakot block.

₹25 Lakh Approved for Ambedkar Park Beautification in Udham Singh Nagar

The state government approved ₹25 lakh for the beautification of Dr BR Ambedkar Park and the nearby pond in Darau village under the Kichha assembly constituency of Udham Singh Nagar district.

The project aims to improve public spaces and provide better facilities for local residents.


₹36.84 Lakh Scholarship Approved for Children of Ex-Servicemen

Chief Minister Dhami approved financial assistance of ₹36.84 lakh for scholarships for children of ex-servicemen.

The amount will be provided through the Kargil Shaheed Parivar Chief Minister Assistance Fund to students pursuing:

  • Engineering education
  • Medical courses
  • PhD programmes

The initiative will continue support for families of former soldiers and encourage higher education among their children.

Thana Diwas and Night Chaupal Approved in Vibrant Villages

The Chief Minister approved the implementation of Thana Diwas and Night Chaupal programmes in Vibrant Villages located in:

  • Chamoli
  • Uttarkashi
  • Pithoragarh
  • Champawat
  • Udham Singh Nagar

Under these programmes, villagers will be able to directly interact with police officials regarding:

  • Law and security-related issues
  • Document verification
  • Character certificates
  • Cyber awareness
  • Other police-related complaints

The initiative aims to strengthen public participation and improve government services in border villages.

Uttarakhand Government Focuses on Defence Welfare and State Development

Through these approvals, the Uttarakhand government has highlighted its focus on respecting armed forces personnel, strengthening infrastructure, promoting religious tourism and improving public services.

The decisions are expected to support balanced development across districts while ensuring welfare benefits reach different sections of society.
