New Delhi: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) organised a series of community-focused activities across its operational areas under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and Special Campaign 6.
The initiatives combined sports, creative activities and awareness programmes to encourage local communities, particularly students and young participants, to take an active role in promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Kabaddi Match Organised in Pathakhera Area
In the Pathakhera Area, WCL organised a friendly Kabaddi match at Higher Secondary School, Chhatarpur.
A total of four teams participated in the event, including:
- Two male teams
- Two female teams
Students, teachers and local community representatives participated enthusiastically in the programme.
Along with promoting sportsmanship and teamwork, the activity was used to spread awareness about:
- Cleanliness
- Collective responsibility
- Community participation
- Maintaining cleaner surroundings
The initiative highlighted how sports can be used as a platform to engage young people and communicate important social messages.

Chandrapur Area Conducts Waste to Wealth Programme
The Chandrapur Area organised a ‘Waste to Wealth’ awareness programme at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandrapur.
The programme focused on educating students about responsible waste management and the potential to convert waste materials into useful resources.
Students were sensitised about:
- Waste segregation
- Recycling
- Reusing waste materials
- Responsible handling of waste
- Reducing waste generation
The programme encouraged students to adopt sustainable waste management practices in their daily lives and understand the importance of proper waste disposal.
Pench Area Holds Rangoli Competition
Meanwhile, the Pench Area organised Rangoli competitions in villages of Parasia Block.
Schoolchildren and members of the local community participated in the creative activity. Through colourful Rangolis, participants conveyed messages related to cleanliness, sanitation and environmental protection.
The competition also promoted awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and plastic-free environment.
The activity combined creativity with social messaging and provided an engaging way for local communities to participate in the cleanliness campaign.
WCL Promotes Cleanliness Through Jan Bhagidari
WCL’s activities across Pathakhera, Chandrapur and Pench Areas brought cleanliness and environmental awareness directly into local communities.
The programmes used different forms of participation, including:
- Sports through the Kabaddi match
- Education through the Waste to Wealth awareness programme
- Creativity through Rangoli competitions
- Community participation through involvement of students, teachers and local residents
These initiatives helped extend the message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility beyond WCL’s operational establishments.
Focus on Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and Special Campaign 6
The activities were organised in line with the objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and Special Campaign 6.
WCL continues to promote Jan Bhagidari, or public participation, by involving communities in cleanliness and environmental initiatives.
The company emphasised that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and that active participation from citizens, particularly young people, is important for creating cleaner and more sustainable surroundings.
Through community-centric programmes, WCL is also promoting awareness about sustainable waste management, sanitation and environmental protection.
