2011 batch IPS officer and renowned cyber crime expert in Uttar Pradesh police, Mr. Triveni Singh has taken VRS and retired from service. He is popularly known as ‘cybercop’ in the police department.
The main reason behind this big decision is his health. He had applied for VRS in January 2023.
He was last posted as SP in cyber crime cell of UP Police. Mr. Singh is a 1994-batch Provincial Police Service (PPS) officer and was promoted to IPS cadre in 2011.
He held the position of superintendent of police (SP) cyber crime since August 2020. He retired at least two years before his scheduled superannuation in November 2025.
58 year old Singh is known for his contributions to solving cyber crime cases. He is the first person to complete a PhD in cyber crime.
Despite his retirement, he remains committed to working in the field of cyber security.
He has solved many big cyber crime cases including investigation about anomalies in madrasas funding. It is unclear if he will continue as a member of the probe committee. He is also known for his expertise in handling financial and banking cyber frauds.
His voluntary retirement application, submitted in February this year for health reasons, was accepted on Thursday, according to senior police officials at the director general of police headquarters.
Mr. Singh served as SP in Auraiya, Azamgarh and STF along with other state police wings, including vigilance. He has also received the President’s Police Medal for his services.
